What is the astral plane?

When spiritual teachers talk about accessing the astral plane, what exactly do they mean?

Is it another 3D-like reality that you can navigate with your mind, but is separate from our material 3D reality? 

Looking also for any experiences of users on this forum that accessed the astral plane

I have accessed 2 different planes of existence.

First one i would call the astral plane or the end of human dream:  This one happend naturally, after coming home after driving 850km from my gurus home and going to bed to sleep, the black screen started dissapearing and i would start feeling extreme ecstasy going higher and higher, i was becoming aware of the non physical astral body that i could see through, the veins/nervous system were visible, and those veins/nervous system became vibratory, then i lifted up my hand to look at the vein and i zoomed in inside of it, and then i said it's too much i'm not ready yet and i woke up.

Second one: This was done with the help of LSD, with my eyes closed i could travel in beautifull spiritual world full of peace, if i wanted to know any information i could get it and channel it back to the real world, i would see beautifull arena/stadium build in roman style etc.

I guess these 2 experiences are interconnected with each other, in first experience outer and inner became 1. In the second lsd experience i didn't really feel the oneness between inner and outer.

Like clouds floating in a void. You look closer at the clouds and they form into scenes and objects and people and you can land there and talk to them and you know you are doing it.

The Fourth Way, sometimes referred to as esoteric Christianity or "The Work", teaches that we have four bodies in potential. 

• Carnal or physical body
• Astral or kedsjan body
• Spiritual or mental body
• Divine or causal body

This is not a quick or easy task. It takes years. Solar coating of the higher bodies.....To be able to remain quiet rather than to react with harsh or vengeful speech. Or having the ability to observe yourself failing to do this. 

Become horrified and maybe depressed by observing one's own unconstrained imagination in relation to life. 

There are many practices. To become effective, the Work has to become a priority.  Your house has to be on fire for 20 years or more

It's not just another three-dimensional reality. You can see as if your eyes had grown all around your head, spherical vision, and it's an absolutely indescribable experience; you just have to experience it. But traveling in the astral plane of the physical world quickly becomes boring. Plus, you usually don't always end up where you intended, and it's extremely difficult to do everything as planned. I've only heard stories like that, and I doubt it.
And everything they say online about the astral plane is a scam. Almost a scam. This requires diligent training, not just one month, or even a year. Yes, yes, yes, indeed, most often it takes several years of practice. Another important point: if you decide to take up these practices, start now, because the older we get, the more difficult it becomes.
