Here's a roughly but fairly typical Christian American upbringing ' Timmy, you gotta be quarterback, Lisa, you gotta be prom queen. Lisa, you need to smile more. Lisa, put down that basketball, no boy is going to want marry a dike. Timmy, what are you doing with this art, it's gay, go lift weights you're scrawny. Timmy, that shirt is gay. Lisa, hoodies hide your figure, don't wear those.' There's a lot of different experiences but this is actually a lot of what I've seen living in the Bible belt my entire life, having christian family members, being friends with Christians dating christians, working with christians.

Exactly like this in my part of the Bible Belt as well. Also, they’re very afraid of other kids “tainting” their own. They’re quick to demonize and hate in general, but you really notice it where their kids are involved. They’re so afraid that if they allow their kids basic freedoms and autonomy, both Lisa and Timmy will wind up sucking dick for smack. Lol.

Trust and open dialogue isn’t something they consider with their kids. For them, it’s about dominance and control. I just saw a 16 year old Christian girl punished for having a harmless conversation with another teen on discord. She had to sneak to even download the app.

Christianity is such a goddamn plague on humanity.

It's a cycle of sickness, the parents were brought up this way. The parents grew to be deviants, and now they're terrified of their deviance for their child so they teach the 'prevention' method they were taught.

I've seen healthier forms of Christianity though. But this is what I have seen as the 'typical' American Christianity.

I believe humans have this vital energy and the more you use it through sports, thinking, sex, psychedelics, working or whatever, you die faster. This all happened with people who achieved great feats. Same with Nietsche. The body just says fuck you very much when you say "I'm not the body, I'm x or y"

100%.

And yeah, I’m sure healthier versions exist, but my only experience with it is that which you describe, so I’m not concerned with those healthier versions, the same as I’m not concerned with Buddhism.

Toxic Christianity has been in my life since day 1. People who weren’t born into or close to it simply don’t have the direct experience to understand it.

@Joshe one half my family went all Christian. 'found Jesus after jail'

They have compromised moral systems that the needed to fix via 'Jesus' so project out that everyone MUST lack integrity like them. So everyone else needs Christianity.

All the while failing to realise some people don't need external guidance to know right from wrong ...

It is far easier to trick someone, than to convince them they have been tricked.

Sorry to hear that. Did their conversion start in prison/jail? Jail is a perfect place for indoctrination - an offering of hope and redemption to blot out the shame of it all. Religion is often an antidote to the shame and despair of the downtrodden. Rather than look their shame in the face, they run.

I think it really just comes down to low consciousness and fear. For whatever reason, a minority of the population are born with sufficient courage to look reality in the face and call it what it is, and the majority aren't.

Christianity is a mental health issue.

xD

They have lost their minds grifting the culture wars.

It's terrible.  Try being with one.  They think it's their duty to convert you.  I just separated with her because of this.  She doesn't understand true spirituality because Christianity was so ingrained. There is no bringing them back.

Lol. My family is so afraid that I'm going to burn in hell for all eternity. That's why they think it's their duty. If I believed it, I would also feel obligated to save my loved ones.

And they aren't interested at all in spirituality. Once you get them to go metacognitive with Christianity and tell them to truly lean into the spirituality of if it and avoid all the talk and professing and actually make spiritual change, they get scared shitless and say "that's not for me. Actually becoming like Jesus is impossible because we are sinners and he wasn't. He was perfect and we'll never be able to live up to him." Thus giving them permission to avoid the spiritual work of Christianity.

And anytime spirituality does start to open for them, they think they're under attack be demons and the devil.

Thank you.  It was. Almost 3 years.   There was a few on this forum or told me not to get involved with stage blue.  But I didn't listen. I thought it could work becsuse I told her I would still go to Church with her and support her beliefs.   But as time progressed it got worse and worse. She would wake up saying she wanted a Christian man.  I'm Jewish as u probably know from posts in political forum but I'm not religious.  She knows about my views on Spirituality and enlightenment and it just kept escalating and escalating. She despises Leo she thinks true Spirituality is the cult.  You know how it is.  It was very hard and heart breaking.  My argument to her was even if I didn't have an awakening I would have still been Jewish and wasn't going to believe in Jesus. Why did you get involved with me in the first place knowing this.

So I can't stress enough to anyone out there..those check boxes on religious views really matter.  Don't brush it under the rug when meeting someone.

Yeah, that's rough.

Many people get into Christianity and are just Christian in name and don't take it very seriously, but sooner or later, there's the very real risk that they incorporate it fully into their identity and lean into it all the way. That's when it becomes dangerous and near impossible for a non-Christian to be close to them for a length of time. They just untether from reality and you have to watch them drift further and further into delusion. It's hard to deal with and sad, really.

It truly is.  There were a few times where she wanted to hear my side of things but once I went meta or talked about actual vs concept, self inquiry, meditation and the like, she sounded like she was listening but really she was too attached to her beliefs to entertain so as you said her response was that it was a demon.   Her meditation is not actually meditation it's relaxing to Jesus calming videos.

Consider that you're very likely doing what the Christian is doing in various forms - the religiosity just happens to be a superficial manifestation of a deeper need for a consistent worldview.

No i never pushed any worldview on her this was all her wanting to convert me.  I would be happy not talking about it all.  But ultimately you need someone at similar intellectual levels too.

Oh it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. I'm just saying that the same underlying mechanism is already taking place for most of us, probably in different forms.

"I'm the 'spiritual person' that knows best', "my experience is the true one and you're a fool," and things like that - just, on a deeper level.
