This is a very good, reasonable question. The answer to such a question would aid in a better understanding of the political landscape. Try answering it for yourself.

Everyone is next.  Beef up security period. But once you start getting into theorizing who could be next you run the risk of giving someone the wrong idea.  There is never enough security at these events.

The contemplation of revenge and who to kill on the left ? Is that enough?  There's a Tyler Robinson lurking on every corner.

Seems like a very rational thought experiment to me.  There have been many on the far right calling for revenge.  That got me thinking, who would they even go after that is the equivalent on the left.  That's all.  Obviously I am not condoning they actually do it.  My point is the left doesn't churn these type of people out like the right does.  I thought that was fairly obvious as well, but apparently not.

He's not trying to figure out who could be next. He's trying to understand the political landscape by asking, is there even a left equivalent to Kirk. And he's right, there is not. Just like there's no left equivalent to Trump, Carlson, Musk, Bannon, and dozens more. This is actually very important to understand.

Leftists would be random like the Minnesota assasination, we're not a cult.

That's because the right isn't going around calling the left fascists. There is a lot more rhetoric coming from the left right now because the right is in power.  When the left is in power they become potential targets because they are in power.

And what might that be?

That they are getting more radical because it’s a big market and money. And that there isn’t the real equivalent on the left? Because Kirk was even in (close?) contact with the white house?

Couldn't disagree more.  There is plenty of rhetoric coming from the right.   I hear it all the time at work.   I'd love to see both sides tone down the rhetoric though.   There's no money in that though.  Which is another point I was trying to make.

All I can say is that you should try to penetrate through to the truth of the dangers the left is in a tizzy about and see that they're not only legitimate concerns, but very serious concerns. You believe the threats aren't real, but they are.

I don't care what word you choose to use to call it what it is, so long as you see the reality. The word itself doesn't matter. We don't even need a precise word that describes it best, so long as we see the actual reality - you can use whatever word you want. The people calling the right "fascist", mostly see the reality for what it is, even if their wording is imprecise. There's a lot of truth to what they see.

When the left is in power the dynamjc changes.   Democratic rulers have been assassinated - like Kennedy.  But yes I agree due to that fact that the right is more radical it sets them up as bigger targets.

When was the left in power?

Really left. Look what happened with Bernie.

I do not believe the possibilities of what could happen with the current regime are not real.  They are very real.  So you cut me to the quick. Perhaps because I try to point out the bias on the left that exists here, which it does.  But I do understand the potential dangers.  However- I have seen enough of the administration at this point to come to the conclusion that Trump is not going to try and end democracy or establish world dominance.  He's a corporate mind and he thinks like a business owner.  This doesn't always work well when it comes to politics though- but in some cases it does.  As for imminent dangers no - at this time I am going to not put my guard down but be aware that most likely we aren't dealing with a fascist regime.  This is open minded thinking.

Nice to see Shapiro's rhetoric that the killer was of the left get shut down. First he says we're sure the killer was of the left, then is forced to say he's not sure. Such a fucking hack.

What is really left and when did it evolve?  If it's something new then never.  It's all relative. We could go back to Kennedy but what was that? Obama?  Joe slept through the whole thing so I won't mention him 😀 but are they not really left ?

Again, I don't care what you call it. We're dealing with a serious threat to democracy. People use the word "fascist" to label that threat, but you can use whatever word you want.

Trump is selling Trump 2028 merch on his website and has mentioned running in 2028 several times. He tried to coup the US in 2020. He's gutted the government and replaced everyone with loyalists. I'd say this is cause for concern. If you think Trump doesn't want to remain in power forever, just like a fascist dictator would, you're blind. Use whatever word you want, but just make sure you acknowledge the reality.

No one remains in power forever.  He'll be voted out.  Honestly my biggest fear isn't whats happening now is what will happen when the left gains control again? It was such a disaster before.  What would change?

Here at least Trump is promoting manufacturing in the US via tarrifs.   So he cut down on immigration and that sucks.  For the transgenders - it's fucked up because I believe you can be born in the wrong body.  But there are many who are fake too.  It is what it is.  But if this is the biggest issue we are debating over this administration then I'd say we should be more worried about who comes next.

If you want to explain to me how my freedoms are being taken from me as a US citizen or will be then please do elaborate.

Here's an anecdotal experience from my own life, but I'm guessing this is generally true for a lot of people...

I work for a company that is owned by a fairly conservative family.   I'm one of the few liberals that work there.  The day Kirk was murdered I heard several people openly use the word libtards.   I rarely talk politics at work, but it's fairly common knowledge that I'm not a fan of Trump.  I just kept my mouth shut.  I get that emotions were high that day.   This type of thing is not uncommon though.   Communist is another term that gets used frequently when referring to democrats.   I wonder how they would feel if I started referring to them as magatards and fascists at work?

I get that my experience is situational and geographical, to a large extent, but I find the right to be way more vocal and confrontational on a personal level.  I see this in many poker games I play in too.   Most democrats / liberals avoid engaging in political conversation more often than not.   I knew who Kirk was.  I had a vague idea what he stood for.  After he was shot, I researched him a bit more and of course saw many of the horrible things he has said over the years.  I was somewhat surprised by how many of my coworkers idolized this man.   It was eye openning and disturbing.   None of that justifies his murder.  To be crystal clear.  He was murdered.

Compared to Bernie and Europe they aren’t really left. I mean you could see it how establishment Dems panicked and attacked Bernie.

A wise man once said it is wiser to remain taciturn.  The left is generally more passive - and maybe that means more thoughtful but also maybe not.  Trump through all his faults is a brilliant mind.  Though his mind is empty when it comes to spiritual matters or Absolute Truth.  He would have no understanding of these things.  But that's why in the spiral dynamics model the left are placed higher.   What Kirk was spouting was pretty bad.  He was a radical.  But to give you a similar story my mother is very similar to your co-workers.  I won't discuss politics with her at all because she is so blinded by her own point of view.

He didn't nuke anything he admitted that the evidence suggested he was probably a leftist, and then he came up with a completely improbable theory on the end that Kirk could have been killed because he wasn't right-wing enough lol.
Your brain distorts reality because you want to be right.
It's still better than people on the thread including Leo who recount garbled quotes, or even outright lies, because it supports their point.
