Quitting smoking awakening

Boy do I know that method....

But were you doobs or bongs? I was bonging on man... and the time period was around 33yo so recovery was a bit different. All weekend, every night of the week after work. Chronic.

Started with doobies and quickly graduated to the most MacGyver-looking homemade pipes you could ever imagine and then later bongs, when I realized efficiency was key (with doobs I would frantically vacuum clean them as I could not stand seeing them go up in smoke on the wrong end xD).

It was a weird cultural thing that my closest friend group were doobie heads while a more peripheral one were bong heads / flutists (pipe boys), and there was like some subtle elitism in the doobie group connected to the process of "rolling" and it being like a badge of honor to be able to do it well.

It is also a bit more stealth, stylish and less crackhead-looking (so much so I one time thought it was a good idea to roll it into a cigarette and spark one with one of my friends after a concert while causally sitting on a bench right in the middle of a pretty central city park at night, and we heard somebody walking by who said "holy shit it smells like fucking weed in here". And then when they left, I was like "yeah we should probably leave" 🙈).

So glad I quit. My beloved crazy artist grandad, who raised me, passed away from emphysema. Tobacco smoking since he was 14. I saw him slowly suffocate to death over the course of 2 years with nothing to be done but a slow succumb. I stayed with him and watched him pass on in hospice.

He taught me, helped my artistic skill flourish, and showed me what NOT to do. Even if it was a hard lesson. And confronting. His last words to me were 'Promise to always do the art, and create and build'

So I did. And do :)

A rehabilitated veteran of the scene I see.

The doobie elitism is real.

The feral 'skullfuck my lungs' bong/shame mode is real.

@Someone here   Have you tried microdosing psilocybin ? It got me off weed. I imagine it could be effective for most addictions. Improves mood. Heals the brain etc. Makes it much easier.

@Wilhelm44 no I don't have access to that stuff .

I hope by documenting my process here as a public journal I can quit smoking.  Like I said my sister's husband has cancer because of smoking idiotically . And he is undergoing chemotherapy. He is a dead alive. That's the wake up call as I mentioned. If I keep it up I'm 100% gonna end up like him .

Thank you man 🙏.

I'm lucky nicotine isn't very addictive for me. I can buy a pack and finish it in a week or two, then not touch it for months. I just don't care.

Worst for alcohol, it just numbs me and it is not pleasant.

Nothing beats cannabis or mushrooms in small doses.

What brand of cigarettes you smoke when you do smoke?  Maybe check the ingredients lol for the Nicotine concentration. Maybe you smoke lighter cigarettes than me . Mine are Lucky strike and Marlboro Gold .very high Nicotine. Not a cigarette for sissies.

In general (all red) dunhill, malboro or gauloises; it doesn't makes a lot of difference.

I like to smoke them slowly otherwise they're too strong, maybe i should rather take white ones (the weakest). I think the more stressed you are the more you like high doses of nicotine thanks to the calming effect.

Whether stressed or even enthusiastic actually, a situation of excitement in general.

@Schizophonia well its good that you are not addicted or you don't find cigarettes very addictive.  But I would still advise you to never put a cigarette in your mouth again even just few times here and there when you're out and about .you still basically harm yourself ..and for what ? For something you don't find very pleasurable?

@Someone here I've noticed a huge difference in your vibe on the forums since kicking through the worst of the withdrawal.

Your words are far more measured, clear & free of volatile explication. Obviously we still all have good and bad days... But for me to pick up on this makes me believe you are experiencing a much better time in your inner world 😁

You seem to be giving others the benefit of the doubt more

That's correct . I am very happy actually as of late .so chill..so peaceful..so tranquil that hardly anything mundane can bother me .

I look like a Mafia guy but I'm actually a very nice guy lol. 13k posts? That's not indicative that I have a very busy social life. I live alone with a cat and just mind my own stuff. I go out on the weekends sometime to visit my family members sometimes to hit on some chicks...nothing fancy .
