Silksong Tomorrow

Anyone excited for Hollow Knight: Silksong coming out tomorrow? :) This game is going to be fire.

I really enjoyed Hollow Knight, so I'll definitely play Silksong at some point. Even though I'm not that much into video games anymore.

I need to play hollow knight first... One day maybe

Is it fair to call it a 2D Dark souls? lol

@Eskilon not really, it has a different atmosphere and feel to it. I like hollow knight much more.

@Eskilon it's similar in that:

- it can be hard / easy depending on how you choose to play the game

- there is a big open world to explore

- you re-spawn at benches/bonfires after death and you lose your soul on death, which you need to go and collect or you lose all your money

- enemies in the area respawn upon death/rest at bonfire

- there are epic boss fights

- there are charismatic, memorable NPCs that everyone loves

Things that are different:

- vibe, atmosphere (the most important things imho)

- artstyle

- fights: hollow knight doesn't have parries, backstabs, shield to block damage. You mainly avoid getting hurt by dodging the attacks

- builds: you are not locked into a certain build in hollow knight due to the amount of soul you've invested into it, you can easily switch things up at any moment you want and itemize differently for every boss fight

- leveling: there are no stats/levels in hollow knight, you unlock specific abilities, get items, and upgrade your weapon

- soft locked areas: in dark souls you can technically go anywhere but the enemies will be too high level for you. In hollow knight you could technically beat the whole game without any upgrades if you are skilled enough but you are locked by your movement abilities (you need a double jump, dash, wall climb to get there), there are skips though.

Interesting. This seems like a good analysis.

The only thing I really "knew" about the game was that it is difficult, and has awesome boss fights.

Its nice to know that the builds are flexible and you can change it easily, I really like that.

@Sincerity I'll probably end up playing it at some point too, I’m all about VR now, it’s just so much more fun imo, and even gives  you a solid workout.

If anyone’s got a VR, give the game “ghost town” a shot, you won’t regret it.
