Sorry, that's the wrong website. I meant this one. For example, look at the differences between Austria and USA:

https://www.ifitweremyhome.com/compare/US/AT

That's an interesting site, however it would be foolish to make a decision on where to live based solely on economic and social metrics.

Also, the US is smorgasbord of different realities depending on your socioeconomic status.

Living in a poor rural county whose only hospital is about to be shut down due to the MAGA Murder bill - and living in a high-rise in downtown Manhattan - is arguably a much larger difference than averaging out the metrics between the US and other developed countries as a whole.

For sure. Most Americans don't even have a wide enough perspective to see this, let alone others from around the world. My hometown in the Midwest was only 1000 people. I've lived in LA (15 mil+) for 7 years now. I've seen both sides you might say. Not just population density, but culture, geography, status, wealth.

I should mention I've never been outside of the US and Mexico - so I can't speak to the quality of life in other countries other than what I can see on the net. I think Northern Europe would be my first choice, but what many people also don't understand is that moving to a different country isn't as easy as it sounds. Tons of hoops to jump through depending on where you're moving to and from.

And my perspective is it would be foolish not to move off a sinking ship - so I suppose I haven't convinced you and you haven't convinced me, like most internet arguments.

Easiest predictions ever.

The worst is yet to come.

Trump is an absolute monster.

What do you think about Vlad Vexler's take on him foreseeing right-wing authoritarianism not going away even after Trump is gone and that there will more than likely be a second wave of authoritarianism that's more strategic and more disciplined?

However, he said months ago that Trump’s 2nd term would likely erode and damage U.S. democracy — perhaps deeply — but it’s extremely unlikely to end democracy outright, kind of like you've been saying.

But he will not be charged with any until he is out of office.

I am from Canada but in America doesn't the law apply to every citizen? Including trump! Why does he have to wait till he's out of office to be charged?

Supreme Court literally allowed him to do whatever he wants with impunity.

Like I said, USA is a sinking ship, it's done.

It is not the point of politics to convince hardcore loyalists but to shift the clueless lukewarm middle.

My perspective of our conversation was that it wasn't an argument. I hope you weren't trying to convince me, that wasn't my intention. Just opening up space for something more constructive.

I genuinely think I'm being constructive! I think the USA empire is on it's way out and those with enough money should leave because it's clear that it will get a lot worse before it gets better. This to me is constructive.

Hard to say. That's a disgusting notion.

I generally agree with that.

Well he already got convicted but there's no penalties. He is the president.

Does anyone actually have hope Trump will face any repercussions ever? Look at everything he's already completely unpunished for.

He's a bad guy but you're wrong for predicting the apocalypse or WW3.  He's not any worse than the democratic presidents before him. The only difference is he seeks personal glory. However he is NOT Hitler.  And what kept him from that was his upbringing and culture.

Nothing to fear here other than another republican replacing him

Seeking personal glory is the entire problem.

They are implementing Project 2025. It is aweful stuff.

WW3 it is not.

Many seek that.  It doesn't lead to the end of the USA as many fear mongerers predicted.
