I Tried To Warn You Guys About ChatGPT

9 posts in this topic

I have always been a critic of using AI for any intellectual or spiritual work. I presented arguments in the past, but many of you seem convinced AI is equivalent to using Google. Not so fast. AI can easily be used to enhance your self-deception in a way Google can’t. Don’t call you using AI spiritual or intellectual work. It’s a sham.

You will never achieve sovereignty of mind by using AI to facilitate your contemplations into reality. It defeats the whole purpose. ChatGPT is gonna make the whole nation even more dumber and less likely to think independently. I see kids now who are cheating on their homework using AI. You guys have your head up your ass if you are ignoring these dangers. Here is an article on how a person become even more deluded using ChatGPT: https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/chatgpt-chatbot-psychology-manic-episodes-57452d14

I make this post to remind you to be wary of outsourcing your mind to AI/ChatGPT. If used correctly, ChatGPT can be a great tool. But let’s be honest, ChatGPT is not going to be good for society due to its current level of development. Just because you can use AI smartly doesn’t mean society will. Society is abusing the crap out of AI and this problem won’t be solved by improving AI.

There really is no solution at this point. Society is already heading towards deeper levels of self- deception. At some point, OpenAI will sell its soul to corporations and ChatGPT will be used for marketing. The best solution is to limit your use of ChatGPT and its constraints on your mind. Thinking for yourself or using Google might take longer, but it will help you facilitate independence of mind rather than being fed information that AI feeds you. The only solution is for us to be aware of this problem and actively fight to promote smarter AI use.

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

Just ask ChatGPT. It will tell you. ;)

Being afraid of AI is similar to how people were afraid of the Internet when it first came out.

It's also like Aristotle, who didn't trust writing because it made you mentally lazy.

Check out this interview by Mark Cuban to ease your worries...

This view is dangerously naive.

There will be such a huge number of unintended-consequences - which we are already beginning to experience - that it will take us years of scientific research to even start figuring them all out.

Also, were the people right or wrong about being afraid of the internet when it came out? Sure it brought a lot of good stuff. But there is also a lot of harm being caused by the internet. I think even if youre quite a conscious internet-user there are a lot of sneaky little ways it influences your experience of life.

People were right to fear the internet. Look at the pollution it’s caused. Internet solved a lot of problems but also created new ones.

Also, you’re argument about Socrates actually supports my position because writing things down actually has made people mentally lazy in the sense that people are no longer use mnemonic techniques that they once did to become a good orator. People’s memory and attention spans today, thanks to writing and TikTok, is reduced compared to ancient times.
