The ego and having goals

18 posts in this topic

It’s quite subtle but there are goals in everything.

For example people pleasing = having relationships, being liked, being safe and so on.

Looking cute = being liked, getting attention, being safe and so on.

Being seen as a victim = getting sympathy, being liked, being safe.

And of course this is all very innocent but in a way it also seemingly strengthens the structure of self through time and projecting into the future and so on.

Most interactions with others have goals like establishing a hierarchy or getting something from the other person.

Getting better, becoming a better person.

But the one having all those goals is maybe just a mirage, so what if there are no goals actually?

It's not like there is a universal yes or no answer to such question. There are goals if you set them. There aren't If you don't.

The one having those goals is a mirage that's true ..but just limited. Cause its also real simultaneously.

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

It was a rhetorical question.

The vast majority of people, 99.999%,, probably much more, until two or three generations ago, operated from a place of tribalism, driven by belonging, by being part of a group. When this begins to dissolve, a huge number of people are left in a limbo that they try to fill in different ways. Material success, finding a partner as an ideal of happiness, sex, drugs, sports, and above all, narcissism. Most operate from a place of lack, from a core that's missing something. It's how reality finds the necessary imbalance for the movement that must occur to happen.

Spirituality is about getting out of that frequency and opening your center to reality. It's the only possible way. It's not easy, and there are many traps, but eventually, that will be the path that is seen as the only viable one, once it becomes clear that the others are empty

And who would do all of that?

Who would do what? Human beings are relational beings. Their foundation is the other. Most of their structure is relational. Our emotional system is enormously powerful; its drive creates civilizations. It's not some mental nonsense you deactivate because you've seen a video of Tolle; it's the impulse of life in all its power.

If, on a global level, tribalism ceases to make sense, the emotional system focuses on another dimension, success, couple, narcissism, fun. When this ceases to make sense, all that remains is suicidal depression and nihilistic horror, or total openness.

You have a lot of „knowledge"

Who holds all that knowledge?

You use goals to inform your action.

Unfortunately, for most, their goals are unbeknownst to them so they become a slave to them.

Go about understanding what your goals are, this is the work. If you can know what it is that you are looking for, the search may end. For that which you truly seek is Actually NOTHING!

It's all about catching yourself red-handed, very much in the act of pulling strings and fucking with the stuff in the background...

Leo calls it admitting your wrongness. But that sounds kinda like you did something wrong. You didn't do anything wrong. You are just unaware of what your goals are and have become a slave to them.

Knowing what you want IS NOT some fantasy of being "sure of yourself" where "life purpose," "a girlfriend," and "tons of success" all fall into place like dominos so that you can ride away on your magic carpet...

No, knowing what you want means realizing that YOU LITERALLY HAVE NO FUCKING GOAL AND HENCE:

You are Free. Now you can create goals consciously. There is no way to live this life without having goals. It is just a matter of whether or not you are goddamn conscious of the goals that do inform your action.

At the end of the day, you gotta take a dump (or in the morning, whatever, man).

The only question is:

Are you gonna be taking an Actualized Dump? A Conscious Dump?

Or is this gonna turn into another "Shitstorm?"

Or maybe you can realize that your goals and motivations are determined by the relational flow of reality within itself, like each of your thoughts. You are not a separate entity that decides what goals you will have, but rather every minimal energetic movement of your mind is synchronized with the whole. Then you can consciously align yourself with the whole in the most perfect way possible

Well no because you don’t really have free will to do anything.

Goals are saying, I know what is best for me. How is that working out for you?

The best goal is to remember to pray, please show what is needed here. Let me see with holy eyes. Let me be an envoy that proclaims, all is like this for the best.

All I have ever done is messed up the good.
