Review Ending unnecessary Suffering by Peter Ralston

Animals do not have a concept of past or present they exist purely in the moment.   They also do not have the ability to self reflect. So yes they live more aligned with just Being but its not because of intelligence it's because they have less intelligence.  We should be more like them in trying to live in the present moment.  Us humans get the monkey mind run out of our control due to more intelligence. But this doesn't mean enlightenment doesn't exist.

The awareness of concept is a known that cannot be known by the concept. What is the knower of a concept without making the knower a concept. This immediate moment is unwritten, pure and not-knowing. Self - reflection is a synthetic fiction.

I don’t know about less intelligence. Intelligence is running through very fabric of all living organisms, not specifically special to humans.

I would imagine a cockroach scuttles around its environment with the same sense of self importance. But this is all just conceptual storytelling of course.

@Miguel1 it seems you are neurodivers and hate masking. It's a common problem.

The funny thing is my personality type is ENFJ, which is the biggest social chameleon there is. My ennegram is 8w3 tho, and from there I get the cut through bullshit side.

@Joseph Maynor @Inliytened1 it makes sense.

I was with this partner for 5 years. It was the most intimate and intense relationship I’ve had, by far.

Who on earth is trying not to suffer, name someone or something?

"End unnecessary suffering".

The title of this thread! Lol

Many people here are trying hard not to suffer. This is a very real and common trap. It's very counter-intuitive because the more you try to not suffer, the more you'll suffer from failing at it.

As spiritual people, our superego tells us: "You shouldn't be suffering this much, you're the spiritual one! What's wrong with you?! You should be better than this. You should be like that monk who lit himself on fire."

The crazy thing was that in the relationship she was deeply in love with me teetering on the point of obsession (we were together 3 years) and I completely took her for granted. I am the one who ended it.  Then when I realized what I had lost everything completely switched.  She shut me off like I was dead in an instant.  What I was to her before had died for her, in fact.

@Inliytened1 why did you end it.

And was there no chance after breaking up to connect again or stay in a friendship or something.

Because I didn't understand at the time that relationships are going to have rocky times but you just don't walk away, even if sometimes you feel like it.  I expected man and woman to get along all the time and always be on the same page.  And when that didn't happen I didn't want to deal with it.  Or her.  But I didn't know what a relationship was.  That's why its so important not to get into one until you are ready.

No to the other question, once it was done it was done.  Years later she saw me again somewhere and was willing to go on another date.  But I was like a new person to her.  We didn't end up getting back.   I am with someone else now.

I suffer pretty deeply right now. But I perceive it as a necessary side-effect in my growth to be an emancipated Human Being.

Spiritual people suffer more, not less.

Because they have to face more truth.

A regular person can just go get drunk. A spiritual person can't.

I would think in the end spirituality does ease suffering. It delivers as promised - because once you do die and come back its much different.  You might still suffer but it's not the same.  The fear of the consequences of everything has been eased.  It really comes down to how attached you wanna keep yourself to stuff after that.

In the end is the key word.

The spiritual journey is long and winding.

Indeed.

The real blessing starts when we do.

I'm not tired of Life. I'm tired of this world. And that means the journey to Home has begun.

What exactly? Vibing is an inner posture. Intoxication is the ongoing predicament of the human being.

You have to find joy in what you do.  Its there.  For example i got burned out in my job recently - but then I found the joy again.  You will go through those phases but the joy is still there sometimes it just masks itself.

It is! I'm living my Life Purpose. But I'm suffering the world, too.

Though right now the suffering is more pronounced than usual. I believe it shows I'm on the right path. Facing a lot of resistance. Superhuman resistance, even.

There will always be life stuff happening, if that's what you mean.  It wouldn't be interesting otherwise.
