If You Were A Billionaire

Would you pay all your taxes? 50% taxes, 70% taxes? More? Or would you go to great lengths to pay as little tax as possible, so you can do with your money as you please? Including charity, business, political support, you name it!

I'm very much against materialism. Honestly I wouldn't even know what to do with 1M, much less 1B.

I would probably buy a slightly bigger house, closer to the city. I would start traveling, a couple of times a year. And I would buy decent clothes, and a moderate car.

Lastly I would pay big cash to publish my novels.

I'm the least greedy, least materialistic person I know in this regard.

I would pay them. There is a serious problem with capitalism where you need to run the finish line as fast as possible.

Why pay a tax that you can easilly avoid paying. By just not being in that city for a period longer than half a year. I don't think this is a good example

I would most likely try to avoid paying taxes. Gotta be honest about that. I don't think someone can be a non corrupted billionaire, it's just too much money at that point, too much leverage and consequently power. It would surely corrupt you

I'd be contributing to us becoming a spacefaring species.  Infinity is worth any initial investment. But yes i'd be paying the tax required. I'm holding all that money and taking all that income, it's my responsibility to pay what I owe.

I don’t know. Would depend on how well educated I was.

if I was educated enough I’d maybe consider using that money more philanthropically.

If I got a billion tomorrow, I’d probs just hire a tax specialist and do some mid level tax avoidance. Aka keep it legal and just minimise paying excess taxes but not overly exploit loopholes or engage in illegal activity. Then from there get more educated on how to handle that sort of wealth and then analyse from there.

But also I don’t know how corrupted id get by the status, power and people who would try and sway me. Id like to say it wouldn’t affect me too much ethically but i can’t know if I haven’t experienced it.

If one is a billionaire, they are by definition a selfish greedy asshole. To have that kind of money, you need to be hording money that could be doing good in the world. How much does one really need to live comfortably? Let's just say 5 million. A million dollar home bought and fully paid for. And 4 million to pay for all your bills and vacations for the rest of your life. Lets be generous and double that to 10 million. You would have everything you could ever need for the rest of your life. That means if you are a billionaire, you could use like 99.9% of your wealth to really help your fellow man. And if you did so, you would not be a billionaire anymore. Hence why if you do have that kind of money, you are automatically a greedy selfish monster, because you could help others but choose not to.
