Is it too late for everything, like getting over addictions, developing a solid life purpose, fixing up my relationships, becoming more decisive, getting over past stupidity and mistakes, etc?

i feel like ive wasted so much of my life so I’m so depressed over it

Absolutely not. There are countless stories of people who were fuckups and fixed their lives in their 30's and 40's.

Of course ideally you would start planning your life purpose from the age of 15 and by this age almost everything would be fitting into place. But that is an unrealistic scenario for 99% of people. Most people, to be frank, are fuckups. Most people don't have a life purpose. They don't think about the next 5 years. They don't have discipline.

You're by no means too old to fix your life. Take this as your "quarter life crisis" and use it to motivate you to do better.

Personally I've failed deeply in many areas of my life. And only recently did I even manage to overcome victim mindset. But better late than never. Don't you ever use that "I'm too old" BS as an excuse to give up.

And for context I'm 27 yo.

No way, I was in the deepest most completely incompetent hole at that stage. Pieces of existential dread held together by vague hopes there might be something to come that wasn't punctuated by an all encompassing anhedonia.

I was unemployed, recently homeless and attempting to rebuild myself after a lot of trauma. Now? Successful. In mental, material and spiritual ways.

It is never too late. You have no idea what is coming around the corner. You can be certain change is the only constant.

With life you sort of have to be all in, and I created a lot of my own suffering by trying to just dip a toe in and get by.

From one kindred spirit to another - You have this strength in you.

Whatever challenge you currently face - your biggest challenge - is there to prepare you for the next greater challenge. You won't even be able to conceive of your true abilities because it will be built up by facing these little challenges... until you are self actualized. Until you know inside you, whatever comes, you have the balls to drive into it head on <3

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

What better option is there other than to at least try?

Just be depressed and waste more time?

Not at all too late.

In fact, 26 years old is around the age when I began to make so many major improvements in my life mentally and physically year after year after year.

Got my 2nd degree black belt in Hapkido at 27 years old. I became the strongest and most muscular I've ever been when I was 29 years old.

Around age 30, I got my first real girlfriend ever in my life. Ran my first half-marathon ever at 31 years old and ran it well under 2 hours. About a month later I got my 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido.

Around 33, I had already gotten my Master's in Education, and by 34-35 years old I got accepted into two top-tier  DPT program. I am 37 years old and I will be graduating from the DPT program I am in next year.

Also, over the past 4 years, I've learned about US History and Politics, world affairs, and economics way more than most people in America do. I also started learning some basics in finances last year.

I could go on and on.

However, it also depends on what your problems are and what exactly you are looking to achieve.

Getting your life together at 26 is actually early compared to a lot of people. The fact that you’re asking these questions now means you’re already ahead. Don’t let the feeling of regret paralyze you, channel it into action. If anything --> don’t waste more time thinking it’s too late.

If you think it is too late, then it will be too late.
If you think it is not late at all, then it won't be late at all.
