Ireland and Australia struggling with the UK. Crazy that Syria isn’t bottom 5 but score the same as Belgium after one of the most horrific and intense civil wars of the modern age.

what do the colours on the graph bars mean

Sometimes it's the journey itself that teaches/ A lot about the destination not aware of/No matter how far/
How you go/How long it may last/Venture life, burn your dread

It's very sad to see my home country nearly at the bottom of the list. I can only think that Covid and Brexit has driven huge inflation here and people are miserable as a consequence, survival is hard here for a Western country. The Dominican Republic looks enticing.

I do think the mental health figure is strongly linked to the economy here in the UK.

This is interesting for a deeper dive:

RIP Australia.

Can confirm, Australia's mental health being in the toilet is due to economic issues.

Cost of living here, just groceries even, is horrid.

We have many companies/businesses that capitalised on the lockdowns. The government handed out cash to business to keep them afloat during our major lockdowns. Many businesses unethically claimed and took the cash with no real entitlement. Coupled with our larger companies raising prices outside of inflation just to increase profit at the peoples expense... it hasn't been a good time !

Materials used in construction really killed us.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

@LastThursday

Ai: In the 2023 Mental State of the World report by Sapien Labs, the colors on the bar chart represent five mental health categories:

Purple = Distressed

Red = Struggling

Blue = Enduring

Yellow = Managing

Light Green = Succeeding

Dark Green = Thriving

Each bar shows what percentage of people in a country fall into each category.

Ai end.

__________

Another shocking statistic is that while the UK is the second most mentally ill country on the planet, Northern Ireland is considered to be roughly 25% more mentally ill than the rest of the UK. If this is true, considering that the UK has a score of 49... If Northern Ireland is 25% worse its score is around 37, ranking well below Uzbekistan making Northern Ireland the single most mentally ill country in existence. 🤭 How fun.

Northern Ireland is the most fascinating place on earth imo. Even though I've seen amazing documentaries about it again and again, I can never understand how something like The Troubles could happen in that part of the world in such modern times. It's absolutely insane.

@Kid A essentially it goes back a few hundred years. The British invaded Ireland a long time ago like they did with a lot of countries. But they were particularly hard on the Irish (prohibiting them from owning land in their own country, shipping out all their food during a famine for profit, lots of stuff).

It got to the point where the Irish started to rebel. As you know how this kind of thing goes, rebellion was met with even harsher treatment, which was met with even stronger rebellion, which was met with even harsher treatment etc etc.

Eventually the Irish just said "right well, your going to supplant British people in the north of our country as a method to forever rob us of our land? Keep it. We'll fuck it up nice and good for you x."

They proceeded to bomb the fuck out of Belfast for a few decades. Irish and British young people were killed, the violence was horrific. There was a crew called the shankill butchers and...let's just say they weren't butchering animals.

Everyone was affected, lots of people were assassinated by the IRA. Ultimately, it was the Brits fault and a united Ireland is coming slowly but surely.

@Aaron p Yeah, even though the IRA were pretty terrible, the Irish have my deepest sympathies in this conflict. The British treatment of the Irish has been unreal. It makes you wonder whether things like Ian Paisley being born and Bloody Sunday happening were actually a series of unfortunate events that triggered The Troubles, or whether similar things would have happened and triggered it anyway…

I too would be unhappy if I lived in the UK.
