Yes, in the same way the political identity of black people in the US was to destroy slavery and Jim Crow. Israel as a project understands itself as the destruction of Palestinians, Palestinians are forced to defend themselves.

Only one major Jewish party put out a “plan” and it is specifically about how they can weasel out of granting Palestinians a state with self determination while still claiming to get a deal through. 

Notice how none of them are saying “now that the power balance shifts they’ll see we were good faith peace seekers who were unfairly blamed and Palestinians are the problem”.

They would rather be Rhodesia than acknowledge Palestinians as equal human beings.
