  1. The youtube censorship issue for me breaks down like this -

There is freedom to do whatever you want, within legal limits, but there is not the automatic right to a platform. You have no specific right to be put in front of a lot of people and for them to have to listen to you.

Youtube gives more of a platform then there has ever been to the average person.

If we had total freedom of speech for everyone in which there could be hate speech or just things that might be highly offensive, the platform would suffer as most people would turn away. This has been the case in several instances, check out the monster Island experiment.

It's also impossible to have a platform where there is unlimited free speech from a business point of view, because yt in this case could be liable for the content that's released. Moreover many advertisers may not want their adverts associated with certain types of content. It's possible that you could have a non-corporate, non-profit platform but it would be difficult to provide running costs, which would be millions. Creators also wouldn't get paid direct from content.

So the freedom has to be balanced with sustainability of the platform. There are other sites where anyone can say what they want or telegram groups or wherever, even reddit offers a lot more freedom in what you xan post, mainly because it can seperate users into different subs so youre mot exposed to anything you dont want to see, so the choice does exist. What people get annoyed about is not necessarily the freedom but moreso the large platform offered by youtube which can only exist because of moderation. So it's almost a paradoxical request to have absolute freedom and have a really large platform such as youtube.

  2. @Razard86 summed it up nicely but just to weigh in, it does come down to your expectations of the forum and that will determine how you use it. So if you expect that this forum will get you enlightened or get you whatever results youre after, you will end up highly disappointed, especially if you see the use of the forum as doing some kind of 'work'. Ultimately you can only see results from action in your real life, theres no way around that, blaming the forum is just pushing blame which also doesnt help you.

The forum could be used to get advice from and then try out the advice irl or just to have debates and hear other sides of an argument or whatever you want to use it for but its not unhealthy in of itself its just how you use it or see its purpose. What might be a good use of it for op is to use it to hold yourself accountable for real life stuff.

  3. @Yimpa

Definitely man, you know when i was 14 i had to do a presentation in front of my class at school. I choose to do it on hip-hop music as I really loved it at the time. I prepared for ages and thought about it constantly. I got up in front of the class and pretty much froze, I couldn't say anything, it was a horrible experience and I thought, this is just something I can't do, so I know what you mean in terms of having that wall.

But the last few years of done the odd thing that's really pushed me and what I found is the more you do these things the more reference experience you have. So when something comes up you just think 'well I did that other thing so I know I can do this'. In the last few months of sang in a bar in front of a crowd, done this speaking thing and then also recorded an interview with them. Its genuinely amazing how you can switch your mindset just be testing your beliefs  now I actually enjoy these things, they are still a test but I like the challenge. So for you I would say check the integrity of your walls and you'll be shocked at how weak they actually are

I don’t really have public speaking experience (but I do have experience with OCD). So I just wanted to say kudos for putting yourself out there! You’re helping spread awareness about a condition that has far too many misconceptions (even by most therapists since most aren’t OCD specialists).

Watching that video is also an ERP opportunity ;)

Thank you bro, yeah there are tons of misconceptions, lots of people had stories about being misdiagnosed, so its definitely a great cause and happy ive got the opportunity to get involved with helping! Yeah i should get some erp going by watching it im going to put clips of it in a youtube vid im doing so i will need to at some point anyway xD

I thought you did a good job, were simpatico, clear, and engaging. The only thing I'd suggest that might improve your public speaking is to do some training with good vocal teacher to strengthen your voice, volume and tone, it was a bit challenging at times to hear you and it sounds like you may have been straining your voice to be audible?

Thanks for the feedback, yeah i sometimes feel i have to strain, its something ive had to work on and need to work on more. It probably comes from not wanting to be heard when i was a kid, partly because of OCD and confidence issues. Now i feel a lot more confident but need to work on my voice projection so thanks for highlighting that

Funny how a doctor by the name Dr. Nutt deals with mental health issues. Just a little humor on my part, not calling mental health patients nuts.

The irony isnt lost on us, hes usually talks about stuff thats against mainstream thinking to do with drugs so when they dont agree with him they definitely point out that Nutt is an accurate name xD I think hes great though

  5. So a while i joined a panel that looked at ways to get more black and ethnic people into seeking support for OCD. The stat in the UK anyway is that Black people are the most likely to have a mental health condition but the least likely to seek help, as someone whos experienced this I feel its on me to provide a perspective on it and help where i can.

The conference that im speaking it as a national OCD conference and there were a lot of great speakers there, psychedelics was even covered by Dr Nutt as a potential treatment for OCD which I found very interesting and there was another talk about lifestyle and how that affects mental health. All in all it was a great experience.

I would love to get some feedback from you guys as this is the fist time ive spoken on a stage like this, it was definitely nerve wracking before. So any opinions on the subject matter would be great but also any thoughts on how i came across as a speaker or what i can improve upon and of course if you could like the video that would be good (its not my channel but just to help with awareness). This is something i would love to do more of as well so i would like to improve as much as i can. (i havent watched it yet as it feels a bit weird watching myself)

FYI im the one closest to the host on the left

  6. We've seen a lot of stories come up over the last few months, Russel Brand, Tate etc whereby these names have been accused of something and put through a media trial as well as a criminal one. Hasan Minhaj was put through a story by the New Yorker (ref - https://www.newyorker.com/news/annals-of-communications/hasan-minhajs-emotional-truths) in which he was accused of lying about his stand up. This wouldnt be a big deal normally but he was trying to highlight specific incidents of racism that hes experienced and because of his delivery it at least seemed like he was being truthful. The negative backlash is because this could be seen as falsely stoking the fires of racism.

Now i dont particularly like Minhaj, i feel his persona comes across as a bit overly moral and sometimes condescending, but his response i thought was amazing and was straight to the point with receipts and it actually showed what some publications are willing to do to have a breaking story (response below). I dont think anyone can watch that and not understand where hes coming from. The New Yorker couldve shown the full context but chose not to for the sensationalism of the story.

If you compare Minhaj's response to say Brand and Tate, you can see stark differences. Granted their incidents are a lot more serious but with both of them, they didnt address what happened directly, they didnt show their evidence to give it full context and they didnt truthfully say what happened. For example Minhaj apologises for not being 100% transparent whilst also showing what the New Yorker left out. There was no apology from Tate and Brand it was just outright denial. So this is a good benchmark when trying to work out what might be true or not and i think transparency is key.

Anyway let me know your thoughts

  7. Great topic op

I would say that its not necessarily whether muslim values and western values can be reconciled, its how do you solve the problem of dogmatic beliefs that could be detrimental to a society that is trying to allow freedom to believe and live how you wish. For the most part Islam is fine in the western world, in the UK for examples there are many muslims that were born here and live conventional lives, practice their religion whilst also working and living within the British culture.

The issue comes from the extremists but then also the treatment of muslims over the last 30 years or so, before 9/11 there had never been much anti-muslim sentiment since then and after invasions into Afghanistan, Iraq amongst others where literally 100s of thousand's of civilians were killed, the sentiment from the muslim world toward the west has been overwhelmingly negative. These terrible incidents have actually caused more extremism by making some people even more dogmatic as they no longer have the appetite to trust the west and so they retreat further into their religion as western values have led to disaster for the middle east. The USA had a chance to really lead by example after 9/11 and they didnt take that opportunity.

In general i think any religion will loosen its strictness and dogmatic tendencies when its part of a multi-cultrural society, we've seen this again and again, even Catholicism is easing up. Every religion that is reasonably flexible now had a long time of being very hard-lined and dogmatic, i dont think Islam would be different but it has been set back by th last 30 years.

  8. What I always find funny is that in the comments there will be 1 guy that questions Owens stance on covid and then you'll get tons of replies saying 'we've found the sheep' or 'why don't you think for yourself and do research'. The irony of multiple replies saying the same thing, accusing one comment of being a sheep is hilarious.

BTW this is not limited to Owen, it happens all the time on all sides. I think a good test of your audiences critical thinking skills is if they disagree with you respectfully

Why does it have to be this way ? Why there is a middle class and  rich class ? Why does this pyramid exist? Why can't everyone be rich? The planet has enough resources..Why there is still people who die from hunger in Africa?  If we can reach to the moon with our technology..then why can't we have abundance and wealth and sound living for everyone in society?

It takes a shift in consciousness for everyone, not just rich people, to expand to see others as equal.

But things are improving it just takes to time to manifest fully in the world. Poverty has been rapidly improving for years (although the pandemic slowed things down).

Sometimes, mostly younger people feel like 'why can't things be changed now', but nothing really works like that, if you rush it  there can sometimes be more harm than good. The main thing is, things are going in the right direction and that's all you can ask for while playing your own small part.

  10. @StarStruck

This is a great insight to have! Most of us get it backward where we think 'im going to make money and then do what I want', but they dont really think about what they actually want to do and what can be done right now. It could be everything you enjoy doing is well within your means but because we consume content on instagram we know really want to drop 5k on a holiday to Bali. Maybe just going for a walk at the local park every couple days is what you really enjoy and its practically free.

  11. In general I think women can lack empathy toward men. This is to do with how we are socialised, men are encouraged to be independent, tough and not show emotions. Women are encouraged to basically be the opposite. Women see men more as protectors and men see women as people to protect. So in this whole equation, mens feelings are buried and so women treat them as such. It takes very conscious individuals to break these patterns.

Ive also asked women about this and the ones ive asked genuinely dont consider mens emotions, these are not pyscho women, just normal, nice women.

If you panic it is not the job for you

Scenario: youre the leader of lets say the UK, your most trusted experts from various relevant fields inform of a virus that is imminently arriving to the UK, they predict a worldwide death toll of around 40 million people and around 5 million in your country. As well as the death toll they are not yet clear on the long term affects covid might have on the populations health, which could also be severe. They say the death toll can be curbed by as much as 60% if we take preventative measures such as lockdowns, people have to wear masks etc, but we have to do these asap, any delay will cause the virus to spread more. There are reports of many deaths in China, Italy, Spain and many other countries around the world.

As a rich country the preventative measures will be possible although they will cost a lot and may affect the economy for the coming years, however the UK will still be one of the richest countries in the world. There will of course be impacts from the lockdowns that come with isolating people from each other, there will also be impacts to those that survive the virus.

Do you go against the experts opinions and  risk millions of peoples lives and not take the preventative measures, helping the economy but risking more people getting infected and potentially more deaths?

Or do you go with the lockdowns and other preventative measures as advised by your experts, which, if successful will reduce the affect of the virus by 60%?

(Remember you only have the information available to you at that time)

The meta lesson of the pandemic is an urgent test to see if humanity is capable of putting aside their differences, working together effectively, and ultimately becoming less selfish and more loving towards each other and the planet they inhabit.

    Humans are failing, big time.

The first couple weeks were ok its just the next 2 years that were a mess

It's not about being good with women, it's about whether or not women are naturally attracted to you. There are a small percentage of men women naturally gravitate to, they are not gentle, kind, enlightened, virtuous trauma free angels that men are told to become. Then the rest of us either totally invisible or needing some kind of hook whether that be status, wealth etc for women to tolerate us. Since women have had an unprecedented increase in financial and social freedom they no longer need to deal with the undesirables, so we see this growing chasm between the have's and the have nots among men.

Women will gravitate toward certain men but they rarely if ever approach men. So a big factor and where men can improve how food they are is simply getting comfortable approaching, this doesn't necessarily have to be complete cold approaching, it could be someone who goes to the places as you or friend of a friend, but point is men have to take action to even be in the running. This is just not happening now mainly because we look for easier routes so we don't have to go through rejection.

  15. Attributes of being good with women-

    • Non-neediness
    • Being comfortable in your own skin/authentic/confident
    • Not taking rejection personally
    • Able to be light and playful
    • Treat them like a human not someone who you worship and equally not someone you look down on
    • Not pushy
    • Able to be vulnerable and put yourself out there
    • Being able to escalate smoothly, not too slow not too fast
    • Confidence but not arrogance, women can easily sniff out insecurity
    • Be serious when required
    • Be able to handle your emotions, esp when potentially emotional situations arise
    • Able to keep your frame

You do show intent, you ask her out, talk to her, kiss her etc.

The thing is that in liberal countries sex is not a big deal for girls and they have it easily if they are attracted but that is not every girl. Where I live it has people from all over the world and it is crazy how differently sex is perceived by girls based on their upbringing. For some girls hooking up with a guy they like is a no brainer while for others they need many dates, they feel ashamed about it and if you are too pushy for it she will probably stop talking to you. I know girls that did not have sex with their partner until they got together. So it depends a lot.

I notice that Leo and some people here have a big bias towards liberal sexually open girls that sleep easily with guys when that is not all girls.

I remember John Anthony who is a pro PUA saying that in Ukraine it would take him multiple dates just to get a kiss because girls are so conservative there  meanwhile in USA he got laid on first date usually.

Yeah you are right, culture and other factors influence what girls see as 'investment' and that varies widely. But i still think the sex thing stands because lets say you go on a few dates a Ukrainian girl and you get a kiss, she still wouldnt be as invested in you as if she had sex with you. Thats not to say she wouldnt be invested at all from the dates or that she wouldnt be more invested than a liberal American girl for example but she would definitely be a lot more invested after sex.

I know many girls that liked a guy and were invested in him even before sex because they saw him as high value.

The "she does not care about you before sex" only applies if you are lower value than her naturally.

It works the other way as well though, as in if she sees you as high value and you don't have sex with her, she can see that as a rejection and withdraw from you. So either way sex removes the doubt
