There may actually be a correlation between one's level of consciousness and how sensitive your body/brain is to toxins. Notice that a high performance sports car requires superior fuel to travel the same mileage. High performance machines tend to be more sensitive and fragile, requiring higher precision in their operation.
There are some people who smoke a pack of cigarettes a day their whole lives and never get cancer. But are these highly conscious people? Would you really want to trade places with them even if they live to 100? Trump will probably live more years than I do, but I don't regret that one bit.

Survival takes place within Being. So if you stop long enough to look underneath all the survival what you see is the underlying Being, which is Consciousness for its own sake.
Spirituality is about seeing the Being underneath all the unconscious survival.
Emptiness just means free of survival.

But notice, what is ego? Ego isn't really anything substantial. So perception is very close to Being. The only difference is a bit of extra awareness.

Take the notion of Everything. Everything must be One. Why? Because any thing whatsoever must be included in Everything. If you can think of or imagine a thing which isn't part of Everything, that means you didn't have Everything, so just include that thing into Everything.
So by absolute logic Everything must be One. There can only be one Everything. Everything must also be infinite since Everything can hold an infinite number of things. Since numbers are things, we can see that Everything must at least contain all the numbers, which means Everything is infinite. It is impossible to imagine anything that is not a "thing" since I define "thing" as anything whatsoever, including "non-things".
So Everything is God.

I have not met any, but I don't meet many people in general.
Women generally do not care about truth. So it will be rare to find a woman who does.
Women have a different way of doing spirituality. A feminine way. It is not centered on truth-seeking. But of course these are just generalizations and there will be exceptions. Most men don't take truth seriously either.
Women can have lots of spiritual wisdom, but it will be of a softer feminine sort. Don't expect women to blast you in the face with hard truth. That is antithetical to femininity.
The best advice I can give you on this topic is this: Stop needing women to be sources of truth. That is not a woman's function. You as the man should be the source of truth for women. And even then, you should not dump truth on women but rather bask in truth yourself without trying to impose it on them. Imposing truth on a woman will only make her hate you. Give women love, not truth. Keep the truth to yourself. This is the proper function of a man. Do not try to make women into men. This is a rookie mistake. And appreciate the different angle that women offer.

Yes, fear is a major obstacle.
How did I overcome the fear? By doing so much psychedelics so many times that eventually I gradually acclimated to it.
If you hold spiders and snakes in your hands enough times eventually you will stop being afraid of them. But the first few times you hold a spider it is scary.
If feels like your entire visual field is recontextualized as God. Everything you see glows with God's radiance. That's what you're after.
You don't need to think your way to it, just trust that it will eventually happen to you.
Well, this is where psychedelics are so useful. If you can get even one short glimpse of God on a psychedelic then you will have a target to aim at and look forward to.
I use my psychedelics memories to motivate me to work towards higher states. But also I'm now conscious enough of God that I can get motivation from just appreciating its beauty, and then aiming for more of that beauty.
Really, the motivation is Beauty. Try switching your motivation from Truth to Beauty. It's about the Beauty of Consciousness. That's what you're really after.

It's hard to know what people mean by it exactly. They seem to use it in different ways while acting as if there is only one binary state called enlightenment. I do not subscribe to this view of Consciousness.
From what I gather, mostly what they mean is loss of the sense of an ego self. The no-self realization.
But to me that is just a small aspect of Awakening.
Keep in mind that people can use these terms in different ways. So you always want to drill the user of the word down on what exactly they mean by it. Don't assume. Force them to spell out the phenomenology of that they mean. What does enlightenment feel like for them? That will give you a better idea.

Frame is a way of looking at something in your mind.
State is the actual physical being of this present moment. What humans call the physical world is actually a state.
You entire visual field is a state of consciousness. If you drink a bottle of vodka the state of your visual field will change.

You are always in some state of consciousness.
