  1. Worked on me. I thought there was some kind of backrubbing going on when vote counting seemed to just stop for no reason. Good to know what really goes on
  2. Whats up with the slow counting of votes? Is it because Trump ordered counting to stop?
  3. The only people I know to care about cultural appropriation is american white people (Not to confuse appropriation with white washing, which is pretty gross) I can see a problem if someone wears a great indian feather hat WHILE KNOWING its origin and purpose in native american culture, but I dont see a problem when someone wears it out of ignorance. Oh, by the way. If you want to laugh your ass off, google "If you are a white person, you cant speak spanish". Its the funniest shit ever!
  4. What do you guys mean by healing the past? If its something like the end of dwelling on old fights ans grudges, then I'd say Finland is another that has healed its past.
  5. I have been wondering this for a while. I judge the leftist and right politics all the time while I dont see a problem with my centrist views. I firmly believe that the centrist ideology is superior to left and right leaning ideologies. I realized that this is how the left must see right and how the right must see left, which means that I am blind to the shortcomings of my own politic ideology. If centrism was perfect, wouldn't everyone be centrist? I was going to post some examples of what I hate about left and right ideology, but I think that is just my ego trying to justify the centrist ideology. I think centrism is the biggest part of my ego since I am so offended of the politics that left and right do. I would greatly appreciate your views on centrism and if you could tell me what the ideology lacks from your point of view
  6. Yeah. If he thought she was 15, why would he have asked her address? Number sure, but address?
  7. Naah, this is too hot. 85c is perfect ?
  8. Try "Happy white american couples" Google doesn't only show suspicious image search, but if you search something like "Good things about *Insert politician they dont like*" the results likely show negative things about them. Engine like Duckduckgo tries to find articles matching your search terms, but Google seems to be more selective about the results. You could say that the engine is just showing you what people most likely *want* to see, but thats not really how a search engine *should* work in my opinion. Then again, my opinions really dont matter when big bosses discuss ideas.
  9. Isnt that basic ego work? Realizing that its not really you who gets hurt, but your ego. Or is it something else in this context? Because I have this same attitude, but its not negative for me. I feel like not giving my emotions power over certain things is giving me power to decide my own mood and happiness. Then again, I could be suppressing my heart chakra. Do you know a good source on the subject?
  10. Lol, because the average diet is definitely a healthy one. Especially for those young people, like students, who rely on frozen pizza and macaroni with the side of pepsi.
  11. @Yog Yep. Discord servers are safe haven for radical groups. Luckily it seems that the developers have decryption keys to discord messages, so its not an absolute vacuum of authority
  12. @Forestluv On a second look, it seems like decent action has been taken against Qanon not only by Facebook, but also by Twitter and Reddit just this year. The users have reportedly migrated to other channels, like Discord, but those channels definitely dont give you the platform Twitter or Reddit does. The social media giants are definitely waking up.
  13. I dont think its wrong to try and silence hategroups, but problem here is that Qanons main communication happens in sites like 4chan and discord channels. Banning them from Facebook does jack shit against their operation. "Anon" groups originate from 4chan, and I doubt the apple has fallen far from the tree. All this does is that it make these groups and their operation harder to track, and their troll campaigns harder to link to the original source. I also suspect that media sites such as Reddit and 9gag, which are anonymous, are much bigger breeding grounds for Qanon followers than Facebook is. But I guess its the thought that counts? Still, I wouldnt really call this a victory until Reddit and 9gag does the same, and 4chan and its siblings are closed.
  14. Not much. I can spend 50 euros pretty easily, but when I am in a tight money spot where I have to cut down the quality of short term basic needs like food, 50 euros becomes a huge money. I dont appreciate that fact often enough. Luckily I have credit card tho (Not that I use it often, but it gives me feeling of financial security)
  15. I had 5 bulged discs at the same time. 10 months of agony, 9 of them I had to sleep on the floor (Its not that bad after a few months, but I like my new back-friendly mattress more). Drugs didnt do shit, apparently my body doesnt want to make morphine from the drugs. I woke up every night in pain that only stopped after walking around my apartment for 30-60 minutes. The pain is almost gone now. Im now stretching and working out to strenghten every muscle that supports the back that I can. Im never going to suffer like I sufferred again.
  16. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/sweden/ https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/norway/ https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/denmark/ Odd, according to Worldometers statistics, there is roughly about 700 new infections per day in Sweden. This was same as couple months ago when I last checked. Meanwhile, in Norway there is only about 90 new cases (169 when adjusted to Swedens population) and in Denmark its 220 new cases per day (386 when adjusted to Swedens population) However, while Swedens new infections have been in downward curve, Denmarks and Norways new infections are in a trending curve. Its hard to say how high the trend will take the daily cases, which could be higher than Swedens current rate in just a few months. Something very positive about Sweden is that they seem to have gotten the deaths in control, as there is only about 20 deaths per day in the past few weeks. It used to be much higher, peaking around 115 deaths per day in April. Herd immunity could be the answer after all
  17. So, I came across this video from Veritasium on success being luck vs hard work: Its a really interesting video, but it also has me puzzled. Using the hockey players analogy from the video, it was simply a luck of draw that I happened to be born with right circumstances that made me interested on working myself and becoming the captain of my own ship. Sure, there is hard work, determination and the tools that helped me achieve what I can only pin as results of self-help, but the major factor is supposedly the fact that I initially became interested in self-help. Because of this, I got advantage over non-actualizing people when it comes to self-help related topics. Hence, it was luck of draw that I achieved what I achieved. I feel like this is some kind of devilry. From now on, if I dont succeed in something, I can just pin it on not being lucky enough to get interested in the correct aspects. In other words, Im no longer the captain of my own ship. I think the devilry could be in the idea of success. Maybe the idea of success is illusionary? Or maybe the idea of luck is some kind of primitive tool of the devil that stops you from achieving greatness by discrediting your own work and success, which you use to bullshit yourself out of doing hard work? What is your thought on the matter?
  18. Lol You make good points. Its not so much that success can be pinpointed on luck, but that we underestimate how much luck has to do with out success. Its what we spin out of lucky events that is the work. Like how you might be lucky to be born in a very poor family in a country where education is free, and you put in hard work to go through college to get out of low income. The same is with a rich family in a country where education is expensive. I feel like this also applies to my gratitude of all the results I've got from self-help. What kind of gratitude would be non-egoic gratitude?
  19. Imagine a mentally handicap person who is violent. Is it his/her fault that they are violent? Not likely. They are probably not acting out of evilness. But if they are violent everywhere they go, its a big problem for everyone around them.
  20. Either taking 100% responsibility or being the observer. Its hard to say, because taking 100% responsibility has affected my life in huge positive way, but I feel like it has diminishig results more you do it. Meanwhile, I feel like practicing mindful observation is going to have compounding interest in the future.
  21. I think life purpose is somewhat American ideal. I dont mean this as if Europeans or Asians cant have a life purpose, but the lifestyles and ambitions between Europeans and Americans differ in a such way that makes Americans more inclined to crave a grandiose obstacle they want to overcome in their life. You know, "Land of the opportunity". Its in their culture to become something great. Meanwhile where I live, the most common dream is to own a summer cottage, car that moves and turns, and a house. Nothing fancy, something that even a Taxi driver can achieve in their lifetime. I haven't taken the life purpose course yet, but Im planning to do so just to find whether I actually do have an ambition to something. EDIT: When I started self-actualization, I had huge dreams and ambitions. They were my main motivator to work on myself. Ironically, more I do self-work, less ambitious I have become and I just want to experience life as it is, without worry, in peace. Go figure.
  22. @Harmony342 How come Americans and English people seem to hate office jobs? I have been working in 3 different offices, two of them very large, and I have never met a person who was having a bad day. In American shows everyone is always tired in an office, and they look like they are contemplating suicide. Is it not a big enough dream to do relatively relaxing work in an office?
  23. Nah, looks like a normal school to me. But the school looks big, so they might have more leftover money to invest in big pool tables and Playstations. At my school we basically had only outside activities, this was about 10 years ago. I couldnt find articles about the experimental school, but in that school there was basically no walls, and the arrangements were more alike to an open office space. So every pupil of every age group were basically studying in the same room. There was a big backlash against the school in media as some parents claimed their children hadn't learned enough to pass the grade. They accused the open office style, and that their children couldn't focus on learning because of that. EDIT: I found an article about the experimental school. Its in Finnish tho: https://yle.fi/uutiset/3-10919909 Not everyone in the school was studying in the same class, it was only 80 pupils per class ?
