Will the right-wing media be able to persuade the GOP base to move on from Trump?

Due to the Republican party having been completely devastated by their shockingly terrible 2022 midterm results overall, practically all of the right wing media outlets out there have recently been saying that the Republican Party needs to move away from Trump if they want to stop losing so many big elections. Do any of you guys think that the right-wing media will be able to successfully influence the whole base to move on Trump and MAGA candidates?

See... now is where the right will have to contend with the monster they created.

The right-wing elites would love to dump Trump, but they spent 6 years brainwashing their dumb base that Trump is their messiah. Now they reap what they have sown and lose in 2024.

Their only chance of winning is if Trump steps aside. But he is too selfish to do that. And thus we have a perfect case study of how selfishness is self-defeating. This is why you don't support selfish assholes in the first place.

Not even the Big Name GOP donors who are also fleeing away from Trump will be able to do much to stop Trump, huh?

It's looking like a repeat of 2016. Trump will just bulldoze his way through the primaries and force the reluctant leadership to back him because their only other option would be backing Biden. The difference is though, Trump has already alienated all the swing voters and he will never get them back.

The only other chance I see Republicans having is if somehow De Santis manages to outplay Trump. I find that highly unlikely. He probably won't even try because he'd have a lot of risk and little chance of victory. It would be quite foolish for De Santis to wage a full-out war against Trump and his base. Which would be necessary to somehow defeat Trump cause Trump will sooner take the whole party down with him than lose to De Santis. Trump needs this primary way more than De Santis. This is basically Trump's last chance to win, cause he's getting too old, mean while De Santis can try running for another 20 years because he's so young. So if De Santis is wise he will just be patient and not wage any wars.

Well then...2023 and 2024 are going to be 2 more years of wild politics.

That's the only sure thing.

Seems unlikely.

That was a decent take by Shapiro. But unless something drastic happens, like Trump gets indicted and convicted, I think it’s too little too late. Even Shapiro is not flat out calling for a new nominee, he is just not happy with Trump’s picks.

Probably only Desantis could feasibly challenge him and it’s not even clear if he will run yet.

Mitch McConnell sure is regretting now not impeaching Trump.

Could have solved the whole matter right there. It's amazing how foolishly loyal Republicans have been with their support for Trump when it was obvious he would throw them all under the bus in the end to serve his own narcissistic ambitions.

Trump has gone way to far to the right, which alienates the center.  The center decides elections.  Even moderate McGovern, who was painted as a radical leftist for opposing the Vietnam war, lost be a landslide.   I still don’t see how Trump thought it could be an advantage to challenge the validity of the election process.  This pushes him into radical territory.  The only wild card I can think of is if he chooses  Kanye West as his running mate.  A landslide loss for Trump will  just show that the system is still working the same as it has for 200 years.

It’s simple: Trump doesn’t think about these things that deeply.

When you are stage Red, your thinking is very short-term, impulsive and narcissistic. From a Red POV, trying to overturn the election makes complete sense. You just do whatever you can to try and get immediate gain.

Sometimes that strategy works for Red, but often it does not. It’s a big gamble. Especially in environments that are more developed. It can easily boomerang, which is how Red eventually exhausts itself and settles into Blue.

Also, he has a massive shadow around losing and being seen as a loser. Probably shame from his childhood.

I don’t see that happening. Especially since Kanye seems to now be running himself. Which seems to have angered Trump (surprise, surprise).

The only bigger fool than Trump is Kanye.

These 2 are walking, talking, breathing fools. The level of stupidity off those 2 and all their followers is truly awesome and terrifying. These are the two biggest fools on this planet. They are scrambling to see who get crowned the biggest fool. They are gluttons for stupidity.

It's so fucking stupid! OMG!

How can anyone keep a straight face?

There are actually people to take Kanye serious too. Like its all apart of some 4d chess move. Nope its just insanely rich megalomaniacs with too much power. Whether its Ye, Trump or Musk. The expected outcome of a society that is deeply unwell.
