What Really Is Happiness?

9 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

Recently I was using Leo's definition of happiness, which was happiness is fulfilment and contentment within reality. Rather than excitement which is what people assume happiness is. But then, today I realised that this definition may be wrong, as my friends were talking to me about this, these were just normal people who didn't do actualized work. They said that smoking or doing drugs wasn't stimulation as it didn't may you excited it made you calm, so it was happiness or learning was stimulation because it gave you excitement or maybe joy.

What's the definition of happiness?

"It is YOU that must change for all else to change." - Me.

I could've sworn Leo said excitement is another form of happiness in one of his videos O.o

@Alii Stimulation is excitement, happiness is contentment and fulfilment he said.

@Aamir King The excitement comes BEFORE doing drugs, not after.

Most drugs are about stimulating your senses, which is totally about excitement.

Nothing wrong with it if you do it for spiritual purpose, or just for fun when you feel like it, assuming you have a lot of self control (which so few people have).

The rest of them are about calming your mind, which can be done permanently with difficult but rewarding consciousness work.

These people are most likely lying to themself, a sane person doesn't need any drug, especially not on a weekly (and certainly not on a daily) basis.

Excitment is fine as long as you don't cling to it.

Drugs are the answer when someone is holding beliefs that they would be happier if they let go of. Drugs pause the 'itch' of the deeper knowing that they could be calm without drugs, if they pursued a little PD. Drugs pause the 'roles'. Psycadelic drugs, of course, can be used to dissolve these beliefs, but it sounds like what you're talking about ('normal people") is pot, beer, etc.

Happiness is when you can stay all day in the forest just watching nature and being happy by just doing that, without a single thought.

Sex is weird though.
