What Are The Different Areas Of Life?

11 posts in this topic

Here's one that's been bugging me over the past few years - There are so many different areas of personal development to focus on in life, and yet there's only so much time in your life to focus on them. I feel my learning about personal development is scattered because there are so many different areas to focus on, and they all overlap and interact with each other: Learning, Self-Actualisation, Life Purpose, Health, Relationships, Spirituality, Meditation, Mindfulness, Being, Finance, Career, Fitness, Nutrition, Productivity, Creativity, Philosophy, Science, Psychology, History... the list goes on...

I've developed a habit of creating folders on my laptop so can store and make sense of the information from these different life areas, but this has constantly been changing as I'm unsure what to focus on. I don't want to dogmatically insist that there are such and such number of areas in your life and these you must focus on and drill, but instead find a way to create balance within this very complex journey of being alive.

What about you? What are the main areas you choose to focus on in life? It may well be different for different people...

I hear you on this man. Here's my main 'areas'. Hope it's helpful.

Everyday:

Excercise

then meditate

eat healthy

think the best thoughts you can

When you have time:

LEARN QUANTUM PHYSICS

If you just don't want to learn QM's:

nuerology, biology, epigenetics - those are enough to set one free, or atleast be pointed in the right direction. Just my opinion.

This is something which I myself find struggling with but I believe the trick is in finding your own balance and prioritising. You can't study each and every subject inside out although you do can study them to the extent you find is useful. Studying every subject, to an extent is  important and also fascinating for it will help you to connect the dots and understand the big picture.

My favorite subjects include deep inner work (emotions, authenticity, motivations, meditation, PEACE etc.) along with fitness, relationships, psychology and my life purpose.

What you can do is you can choose 4-5 areas of life you want to study inside out like really extract all the juice out of it, others you can study as you wish, you don't have to go in depth but yea you can have a general idea because that would help you to connect the dots. This is one thing I've personally noticed in Leo that he has in general knowledge about every field, from the behaviour of chimpanzees to the hindu religious beliefs. He knows a few, actually quite a lot of subjects in depth and others, in general. Just an idea of every facet that exist.

Find your own balance.

Enlightenment

Life Purpose

Other things are a mean to these two. Personal development is for ultimately detaching yourself so that you could let go of yourself and build yourself up to do your Life Purpose. Then you are a warrior that is engaged in a 'controlled folly' you do your life purpose even though there is no reason at all.

There is too much, i failed at trying to do everything at once u get burned out ( however that experience served its purpose too )

For now and the coming years mainly exercise and dating all the while keeping myself too some smaller goals

- saving as much money as i can

- playing an average of 1-2 hours of guitar a day that replaced my little video game addiction with a certain succes

that's it for now i keep my interests for reading and history but this is it mostly otherwise it would be too much

and i do not define further goals at the moment because it would be distracting i just work on this for the next few years although important is i think too take opportunities and be flexible.

Hey, I totally get what you're saying. Good question. Here's what worked for me.

I focused on my life purpose. Asked myself what I loved to do, what I'm really passionate about. Then, I incorporated this into this diagram:

bi_triangle-300x259.jpg

This is from the book, Guide to Investing by Robert Kiyosaki.

But, this is not the end of the story. Leo has a Spiral Dynamics clip (aka Graves model). Here's the very important part. Match Kiyosaki's diagram with Spiral Dynamics starting at stage orange and go all the way up to stage turquoise. Stage turquoise basically means peace in a very profound way. Discover yourself as you go along. If you need more help, you may invest in Leo's life purpose course, although I have not taken it. I've been on this journey for quite some time now.

To stay on this path, your mission has to be very profound and of your interest. Otherwise, the person may give up on it too easily, or may be setting the wrong example for others.

If you got your path that is right for you, then other things start falling into place, including spirituality. Have you seen Leo's clip on Karma? What I feel that is lacking in our discussions in the forum is that karma can help trigger enlightenment experiences as you go along on your path and incorporate it with meditation, contemplation, and self-inquiry, etc.

Note: forgot to say that while you're trying to find and refine your path, if you must work, in the meantime, find something related to your interest or as close to your interest as possible.

I agree; it's great to a general, big picture of understanding of everything and then specialise and prioritise certain subjects you choose to be most important.

I really like this one. What would you say to the idea that, in basic terms, life could be summarised by two things: Doing (Life Purpose) and Being (Enlightenment)?
