If it's true then what's your problem? I'm not saying I don't want Putin to stop killing but it feels like some people really expected a war to happen without rape and murder of civilians. And everybody is demonizing Russians like they commit all the crimes because they are Russians like the first-world nations  wouldn't do same things and wouldn't commit worse crimes. I'm just saying that all humans are violent animals but it's so pleasant to think that it's only humans from some other tribe and we are better than them.

This is jaw dropping analysis, but jaw dropping for the wrong reasons. It was Russia who groped Ukraine's ass since Ukraine emerged as a separate entity from Russia. It was Russia who meddled in Ukraine's internal affairs since 1991. It was Russia who violated every written agreement with Ukraine. Russia groped Ukraine's ass, touched its private parts non stop. But when finally Ukraine had begun befriending the west to protect her from the abusive behaviour of Russia, Russia decided to cut Ukraine's ass with a chainsaw. To send her a message that Russia does to Ukraine whatever Russia wants. Russia was the surprised one because Russia expected that she can violate Ukrainian sovereignty forever. No one likes bullies. Don't blame the police when it comes to defend someone who is being abused for centuries.

Have you verified whether NATO is actually a thread to Russia? How about you start there.

When you span 11 time zones, when you have a history of 500 years of imperialism, don't get surprised if smaller countries ally themselves together to not become your vassal.

Criminals were pardoned and rewarded in Russia.  Both from the jails but also those who committed these kinds of acts. If American troops do it and its found out, they go to jail and are shamed.

Men can behave like animals in war if pushed; that's why there is an officer corps to enforce discipline. The Russian military is an undisciplined farce and their government no better than an international mafia regime.
