Moving up to stage turquoise

8 posts in this topic

I'm wondering about what the journey of moving up to stage turquoise would look like. Leo and most spiral dynamics sources say that this can only be done by moving up the spiral by passing through each stage - spending a lot of time at stage orange, green, and stage yellow - before you can get to stage turquoise. This makes sense for a modern person in a western country, but what about historical mystics who undoubtedly accessed stage turquoise, but who obviously never went through stage orange, green, or yellow?

An obvious example is the Buddha. How can a member of a stage blue society (Ancient India) jump right to stage turquoise, without passing through the other stages of the spiral? And there are countless examples of mystics like this.

An individual person is not completely in any one stage. For example, someone could be centered in Orange yet have aspects of Blue and Green. As well, they could get occassional glimpses into yellow and perhaps even Turquoise. As well, there are different developmental lines such as cognitive, emotional, spiritual. Someone could be cognitively centered in Orange, and be emotionally centered in Red or Blue.

Regarding Buddha, consider his upbringing and adolescence. How was his mind-body oriented before his awakening? I sense quite a bit of Green - in terms of compassion, empathy and human connection.

Seeing that everything is you helps.

There is no way to know which stage of the spiral he was though, or if he even existed for that matter :D

Turquoise is very recent, and in fact the ancient masters were not turquoise.

Siddharta (the buddha) was probably orange/green, and not turquoise. A lot of zen masters were blue, even though they were enlightened.

Jesus could have been green, judging from his behaviour and lifestyle.

Turquoise is recent, so you have to look for modern masters like Eckhart, Osho, Teal Swan etc...

That's because becoming awake is not a byproduct of stage turquoise, but the contrary is true.

Also, ancient India was not blue.

India seems to struggle even today to become fully blue.

Probably at the time it was purple/red.

If you take the Nondualistic perspective in which there’s no distinctions, then you’re already there.

Movement is only required when there’s a here and there, which are distinctions

@Harry Howard

It’s rare for someone to be sheltered from all suffering for half their life, only to be shocked to their core when finally witnessing it (like The Buddha). Folks are just not likely to drop the life / lifestyle / stuff / & perspectives accumulated through the desires & motivations of materialism and separatism.

There is typically a smoother transition, like satisfying and then transcending survival-self oriented motivations into inspiration from synergistic perspectives, win win solution oriented thinking, etc.

In general the common barrier is the retention of individuality via projection on “woo-woo stuff”;  like the vibrational nature of things, the collapsing of dualities, quantum mechanics, etc. The dilemma is the tier one boats must be burned....but they’re your own boats.

If one isn’t aiming beyond turquoise, there isn’t much illumination within to work up to it. A conundrum of not getting to the bigger picture, because you haven’t seen there is, a bigger picture.

Wow

Has this forum become a cult?

Also to the OP, there is no such thing as spiral dynamics other than as a concept. A model. YOU can’t move through it because it’s not real. You are deluded about who the You is that is moving through a figment of your imagination
