Meditating with Sounds/Music

82 posts in this topic

As to the music and other mind-candies during meditation, I try to follow these principles:
"In the practice of breath meditation we go deeper and deeper into the breath until we reach the heart of all, which is Silence. Through breath the meditator leads his awareness into the silence of the spirit which is beyond the clamor of the mind and the distractions and movements of the body. The state of silence is produced in our mind by enabling us to center it in the principle of the silent witnessing consciousness. For true silence is not mere absence of sound, but a profound condition of awareness that prevails at all times–even during the “noise” of our daily life. Silence is also a state of stillness of spirit in which all movement ceases and we know ourselves as pure consciousness alone. “Soundless, formless, intangible, undying, tasteless, odorless, without beginning, without end, eternal, immutable, beyond nature, is the Self ”.

@Vibivub do both.  Music can really open up the chakras especially the heart chakra.

Enlightenment will happen when it wants to so it won't deter you from a mystical experience.

When consciousness becomes conscious of itself, it erupts in a miraculous blaze of glory - its reunion with itself complete and total Oneness achieved
