Youtube Algorithm Slop

It has been months and all I get in slop from the YT algorithm, I know this has been mentioned before on here but it is just getting worse and worse.

Any suggestions on alternatives to finding conscious outlets or sources?

You need to block slop channels and do manual searches for quality academic content to retrain your feed.

Click on academic style videos, not slop videos.

Have started using the 'don't recommend channel' button on videos which seemed to have a positive effect.

I use that thousands of times.

Block all low quality channels. Be liberal about it.

Youtube has changed a lot, but there are still a lot of great channels out there.

That is not a good measure. Real channels still use AI thumbs.

Build a custom content consumption app that aggregates content from your subscriptions and preferred sources, and organize it all based on your mood or goal.

Maybe today I’m interested in AI workflows but if chess videos show up, I’ll easily get sidetracked and start watching chess games. This app would solve that problem and better channel my focus on my intent or mood. 

I would have categories for AI, chess, politics, psychology, health, business ideas, etc. If I want chess, I only see chess content. 

But you’d also want a discovery feature and a news feature. Claude Code could easily build such an app. I think custom content consumption apps will become very popular.
