Why did Judas betray Jesus ?

17 posts in this topic

Judas tempted by forces beyond him, Satan himself, betrayed Jesus for fun.
The drunkenness of malice.
Yet all he did was say the truth.
The truth crucified Jesus.
The truth crucified God.
Yet at the sobering with reality, Judas ends up in a psychotic break from it, funny how so much truth leads someone to lose his sense of sanity. He started hallucinating and ultimately died from his sin, which was to betray Christ.

Judas betrayed Jesus because there was a void inside himself that God himself couldn't fill.

If Christ died for our sins. And Judas is the one that made the authorities crucify Jesus. Then Judas is the true hero of the story. Isn't it ?

What’s with the fascination with Christianity as of late ?:)

I think it’s metaphorical.

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

@Someone here I am trying to understand and contemplate christianity deeper, i think it is quite enriching. I advise you to contemplate it too if you want.

For me Judas represents the everyday person who goes about things in their own self-interest. Judas didn't betray out of spite, just out of ignorance. And Jesus was canny enough to know that he would be betrayed. Jesus also knew that that was his predestined path, so couldn't or wouldn't stop the betrayal. Maybe Jesus even had pity for Judas.

How many times have you hurt others out of self-interest? That's the lesson.

@Someone here At the construct aware stage, you realize everything is metaphorical. Even the concept of a table is a gross oversimplication. The categories of demons, angels, evil, good, are all oversimplications however pointing to real truths. Similar to how table is pointing to something.

@Someone here I am trying to understand as much of it as i can. Obviously it is inexhaustible because it is infinite.

I think the moral of the story is that betraying God for earthly things (how judas betrayed jesus for money) leads to hell (the terror and madness that lead to the suicide of Judas).

That’s true . Who gets to decide what do these metaphors point to? If I’m not mistaken Leo says “the devil “is a metaphor for the ego or the separate self . Are you familiar with this interpretation?

Seems like Judas didn't consider the wider picture in his actions and when he found out that he'd made a grave mistake tried to make things good by giving back the money and forfeited his life. I mean the bible is full of overreaction, so the suicide was written in for moral effect. But it does prove that Judas was ignorant.

The Gnostics have a different interpretation of the Judas allegory.  Worth looking into.

@Willy Phallicus Part of the christian faith is to hold it as literally true not just allegories or metaphors. And this is a defendable position from a non dual perspective, since the duality of metaphorical vs literal collapses, according to non-duality.

Yeah i'm quite familiar, Leo operates from his own paradigm, not the christian paradigm though.

@integration journey I don't really read, i prefer to sit and contemplate.

I also get information through youtube videos, movies, sometimes reading. It's a mixed bag.

You can read the bible and still be clueless about it. However if you contemplate what you already know just from mainstream culture, you'll get way more clarity, insights, knowledge and truth from it.

I’m from Damascus which is next to you so I’m heavily influenced by both Islam and Christianity

Truth is hard to hear for the Devil.

It exposes his evil character. No one wants to hear something that would destroy your ego.

Also imagine someone claiming to be God when you strongly believe something else.

On behalf of your religion you will kill this traitor.
