How do you become grounded in life?

8 posts in this topic

How do I develop groundedness and anchor myself when great tragedy befalls me like when a family member dies or when a significant other leaves? Whenever these events happen to me, I always find myself very depressed and even contemplating giving up. To me it feels like life is meaningless. I know meaning is relative but I just can't find meaning in my life. I tried finding my life purpose/passion but I failed miserably. I unfortunately can't afford leo's course. I crave direction in my life. Is a life purpose the only way to ground myself or are there other valid ways?

find the actual ground of life / existence and that is the ground of you . Because you can’t find ground in basically anything that changes or moves like people, emotions , thoughts, life purpose, religious beliefs, life itself as a whole etc . So what is the only thing which never changes? Ground yourself in that . Otherwise you’re just using some form of escapism or self-deception.

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

@Iblitan It's basic physics!

When you lack the physical, you gotta create it.

From hundreds of physical exercises to meditations.

From spending time in nature to traveling to different parts at low cost.

From staying in your job to developing closer relationships.

Get active in the here and now, where you're relied upon and or where you're forced to rely upon yourself in every moment.

The problem with the digital environment is that people are able to get away without having to rely upon their due diligence in a given moment. Hence why the digital from Netflix to Social Media to Video Games is often referred to as "an escape" because you're literally obfuscating physical reality for internal comfort.

And go horse riding; or if you're a mad hatter, bull riding.

Cal Newport's So good they can't ignore you book helped me a lot.

Also, Jordan Peterson's talks on doing something meaningful was very helpful too.

@Iblitan Whenever you feel depressed during tragedy or adversity , tell yourself - Challenges are the path to becoming stronger. Process the emotion and take action. If it's outside your control realize this - No amount of crying or weeping can improve it so I must endure it and continue taking action.

I don't know what you might be going through . Just sharing my advice.

I find that I am most grounded when I am staying close to myself and drop fear and validation seeking, but sometimes to drop that you have to go through the fear, because I can say for example I am not scared of sky diving, but only after doing it a few times will you truely feel that OR you will still be a bit scared, but the fear will drop more and more. Also not being performative, because performance is just compensation for your initial value.
