Good idea @kag101 .

1. Truth
A. How? By seeking and subtracting falsity to disarm cognitive biases: certainty by anomaly.
B. Why? It funnels the ordering of every subsequent value.

2. Discernment.
A. How? Critical thinking.
B. Why? It orders the metrics of truth and its use as a funnel, along with providing the pipeline by which every subsequent value is fed through.

3. Awareness.
A. How? Practice x journalling on practice to refine the how, inclusive of theorisation.
B. Why? As above: moulded for the context.

4. Judgement.
A. How? Training, theorisation and the diligent practice and refinement of how the first three meet reality.
B. Why? Every moment is a judgement, thus simultaneously, we are the teacher and the student of our own reasoning; and sometimes our own detention centre. Our judgement determines our values, and the scripture we bare that holds those values to our chest; thus, it is the fortune teller of precisely how we will leave this earth relative to our impact and the actions met from our values resolve.

5. Love.
A. How? Practice heart activation exercises x refinement, again inclusive of theorisation.
B. Why? It is the highest emotion, therefore the most encompassing. Love is not the absence of struggling with lower emotions, it is the metric, the challenge to bring them to that baseline and to deepen the understanding of love through that process. Love is not a bumper sticker when it is encompassed by the first four values mentioned, instead they become the methodology by which your understanding of love becomes truly empirically yours. As much as we live in an interdependent social reality, we abide by the compass organised by loves interdependency within our own being; our shackles that reflect our estrangement of love reflect the shackles we will want to hold the world to, and vice versa. At every intersection then, we tell how we want every other intersection to generate feedback in return. This gives practicality to "circle of life" idioms and the first 4 values expecting further groundedness. Stated in this way, love becomes the compass for intentionality to not only try to follow or live up to, but to ground only to what is meaningfully possible as encompassed by values 1-4. Thus even without a model, much less a proper one, love becomes the intentionality of how our being meets the world, which is the essence of the purpose of meaning itself; where and what is our meaning formation that we are always bound to, tied by and to?

6. Modeling.
A. How? Mapped by 1-4.
B. Why? Like love, its a measurement of baseline epistemic reality, but cognitively; it mirrors the karmic "the circle of life" in the emotional sense by understanding that everything that we encompass cognitively, must first be held by us as a cognitive object, even all that is beyond words but can be sensed. The mere memory of the sense itself is the cognitive artefact of there being something more to explore, even if that exploration is the deeper emotional. Everything is encircled by a model by the postulator or in the personal, as the subjective.

7. Unity & Integration.
A. How? Mapped by 1-6. Subsequent practical training practices built and earned through challenge completion.
B. Why? If baseline emotional reality is a circle. If baseline cognitive reality is also a circle. Then their unitive progress is of course, a circle; and every full rotation, an integration point, that is for better or for worse depending on how our meaning formations mould to become the intention that creates the world of meaning we respond to.

8. Meaning organisation.
A. How? Mapped by 1-7. More specifically to my point regarding interdependence, by its very consequence "meaning closure", as in the point by which we act to justify a choice or vice versa, is governed by the interdependence between cognitive and emotional trees reaching their own closure points to synthesise into what we call "our reason for creating something into existence the moment our mind utters it". Indices inclusive but not limited to: physiological, mental, spiritual, environmental intersections.
B. Why? If meaning formation is an inescapable reality, the meaning that we must contend with then is either discernment of otherwise and the terms upon which that reality supposedly lives, and acceptance nevertheless, of the reality that infers its advance.

9. Intelligence.
A. How? Mapped 1-8. Theorisations synthesised into embodied practices refined by all inclusively 1-8.
B. Why? Values 1-7 have already self-validated that intelligence must become an operative working definition for moving through existence, even if its only ever implied. That said, much more than just the mere action of intelligence, its already justified itself as a self-referential reality that co-created all of the above identities not just through a sentience, but on identifying the intelligence at work in creating the sentience itself and the subsequent patterns discerned here. A pattern implies order and an order implies an order to be discerned by an intelligence that grasps it.

10. Connection & interconnection; Synthesis.

A. How? Mapped 1-9.
B. Why? Any connection implies something that it is connected to, and therefore implies a circle it is encompassed by that interconnects all. Connection and Interconnection, or "to interconnection", as they dance between each other, are the system, the structure and the rail-tracks by which trains of function move through that their limits are encircled by. These encirclements are those are those baseline epistemic realities, determining the position and action, or at the very least, intention of refinement, along with the love of imperfection in that slow graduating process. Meta-interconnection as well, embodies synthesis, and synthesis is the model that remakes models into the new forms that defines the continuous purpose of having any intelligence at all to create and live by these or any meaning.

Thanks for sharing. I always wanted to see the top values of y'all. The following are in not any particular order for now.

  1. Courage.
  2. Open-mindeness.
  3. Patience.
  4. Creativity.
  5. Leadership.

  1. To me this means that I face fears and. To develop a sensitivity to spot my fears. With time this develops maturity and resilience. It is a commitment to not fearing Consciousness since is the only thing that I have.
  2. I look for new perspectives as much as possible. This would look like I listen to different audiobooks, read different books and listen to different experts. This is a source of motivation. It means I will encompass new ways of thinking and acting. The way to avoid getting into a rut.
  3. A must for growth. This means making short-cuts is not an option and that I enjoy being patient. It develops in tranquility since I don't have to rush, while at the same time I am deep into my work, relationships. Slow = fast.
  4. This means I must acquire the skills, the education and take the actions necessary so I develop a creative mind. I value creativity as a baseline. It is my north star. A source of happiness.
  5. I produce the space so others can express themselves authentically. The skill of seeing the intelligence in others and bringing it foward. To be a unitor.

@Human Mint If it was, I am failing at it. Not yet where I was, or where I should be heh. I'll take that as a compliment though, so thank you.

What have you defined as yours, and what was your process for determining your use of Life purpose as a category to follow?

Genuinely interested.

You guys young chaps?

Surprised health isnt no.1

Nothing matters without it.

I only have one and that is to not sell my soul, soul is everything. Sell your soul for money, for relationships, for results, fuck that soul is worth more then any of that. That is why I struggle working 9 to 5 I just get into a fight with everyone, my boss my co workers, I am like you are all bitches I will eat you alive if it came down to it.

As I said in another post:

Quote

The top things I seek are: beauty, intelligence, love, connection and all those things are Truth.

I would add to that list:

Freedom - to be able to express my true self without prejudice or conformity.

Sovereignty - to be acknowledged as a being in my own right and not be torn apart.

Clarity - to see things as they truly are, to keep on learning and expanding

Empathy - to constantly try and understand others in deeper ways

Humour - to understand the absurdity of being alive, to choose not to take it all too seriously, to show others "it's ok".

Sounds like a company mission statement if you ask me.

It definitely is.

I had all kinds of dreams of material success which means almost nothing to me now because I'm imagining myself as a millionaire but with the same health and it would still be hell and i'd be unable to do most things i used to dream off even when i got access to them.

I expected the replies here to be: 1) health 2) health 3) health... 10) truth

Most people aren't wise enough to prevent health issues. They just live with regret. It is one part of suffering that feel I have little control over - especially when our poor health is chronic and presents no solution. Health issues will recalibrate all values like nothing else. My auntie is deep into end stages of MND. After seeing this disease, I am heavily for assisted dying.

I hope you have been going alright lately (´。•_•。`) ♡

It depends on how values are represented.

I answered from a linear abstract perspective.

While writing I was thinking of it more as a 3D structure as well.

It's the communication between them that makes many other values implied, and I imagine I'm not the only one here that reflects the same?

Both the value and the representation is a language, so its more about what the sentence means more than each word.

That said, you bring up an important point and I think for some it would be smarter to actually think about the best categories for values more than just a straight linear read of values.

This is where something like Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs makes sense, but a personalised version.

Going back to representation, you wouldn't necessarily restrict yourself to either a linear description or a pyramid, invent your own damn shape if you want to eh!

If it were to be a pyramid however where Maslow's hierarchy has survival or physiological needs at the bottom, that's where I'd put Health for example.

People may also argue with you about discriminating between a need (health) and a value (outside of biology).

I'd be interested in hearing peoples ideas on how they would represent a value across multiple scales.

For example Value (I.e. Health) > Process (I.e. Physical exercise)  > Activity (I.e. run for 2 km weekly)  > Adaptation (I.e. I am ready for 3 km after experimenting).

There are no perfect models for these things because personality is so varied and life experiences, so I do very much encourage that any genuinely self-reflecting self-aware person compose their own individualised version. I myself am working on a mathematical model of kinds where I translate my own into an all encompassing self-communicating neural-network (NN) of experiences. I might even share this later on, because its far more intuitive to do this than some may realise. Because we're self-organising creatures.

Doing a little research on the uploading of brains to the digital and breakthroughs on fruit fly brains concerning is why I decided to.

We will eventually be successful with human brains, and when we are it will only prove my point further. Because in order to upload a digital copy of ourselves into a digital world, which is not that big of a deal when you think about it as its not actually us anyway, it means that understanding the connections between memory, imagination and real behaviours have been mathematically mastered. That mastery gives us an exact template for how we should actually be visually representing or just organising the process of value creation, given analogously, once our digital copy is uploaded if we wanted it to do any behaviour contrary to the patterns of how our NN fired, we would need the explicit memories that lead to the behaviour in the first place and sometimes even 'subtractive memories' (i.e. memories of over-writing/relearning) to ensure some behaviours don't manifest in the same way.

And yeah, a lot of other things this is a natural gateway to Digital Copy = New Social Outgrowths

People won't date each other in the normal way anymore, our digital copies will be uploaded and our compatibility will be mathematically ordered accordingly followed by millions of simulations between compatible mates of relationships before we even meet one another. Our AI versions will fall in love before our real versions.

Surprisingly, this exact version of a Black Mirror episode, hasn't been released.

But get creative on this. Don't be a slouch!

And yes for everyone, put your health first if that is not already implied by what you've created for yourself.

I think it would help most people on the forum if they worked on this heh, so - simulation - as it'll lead to the most self-honest appraisal and help you discriminate between unconsciously learned values derived through life experience versus consciously derived values from a reflective practice like this:

Some open questions to help stimulate self-experimentation through simulation:

  1. If I was transported to the 1500's:
    - how might I change my values?
    - what pressures would exist towards a natural change of my values?

  2. In an apocalyptic scenario where I was forced into alternate living:
    - same questions as before
    - also, how would the pressures change from scenario to scenario?

  3. If was an alternate species, or an alternate version of myself, say, how much would my values change and what does this teach me about values?

  4. Come up with scenarios for you, unique to you, etc.

Checkout the following post I recently made if you want to activate regions of your nervous system that will make you naturally good at approaching value creation from this perspective:

Phenomenology is uniquely tied to values and value creation in ways that make exploring phenomenology a massive benefit, and just a cool exercise.

The problem with most value creation, is that it can be limited by present physiological conditioning, default states. This takes someone outta that.

Because who are you outside your values? All of this intersects in meaningful ways.
