Is acceptance the key to reduce suffering?

10 posts in this topic

I accepted many things this year:

There are many people smarter than me

I am not special

I won't do anything important in life (something that will change the future of humanity)

I won't do the things I want in life cause I wasn't born for them, my mental capacity isn't enough for the things I would enjoy if I had the mental capacity

It will take many years to develop myself to find a girlfriend

I can't be top at something, we are 8 billion and I am just one.

I can't stand much pain and I am a coward: In short I am feminine in many aspects and traits

There are people that are stronger, more beautiful, funnier than me.

I am unnatractive at least for now.

Don't confuse this with doing nothing. I still do art, workout, socialise and learning japanese, try to eat healthy. This is not about giving up. This is about moving forward without the pressure of things I can't control. This is about realism not pessimism. This is about radical acceptance that will reduce suffering.

What are things you have accepted in life? Is acceptance the key to reduce suffering? I feel relieved that I accepted many things in life, but there is still some small part in my soul that I haven't accepted all of them completely. Should I go for radical acceptance and accept what I wrote fully or it's a wrong approach?

You have to put an end to this victim mentality and self pity if you wish for your life to change. Because otherwise you will never change.

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

These are not acceptance. These are judgments, the opposite of acceptance. Acceptance stays true to what is actually happening, not some idea you have. Acceptance takes what is actually occurring right now and says "I'm fine, I'm open, I'm receiving, I'm free of wanting to control either way".

Intrinsic joy = being x meaning ²

@Never_give_up Yup acceptance is the key to reduce suffering . I noticed in my experience that whoever I accepted and took action anyway such as in my career, approaching women that it's a superpower .

Giving you an example from an interview which I had - everyone was nervous before the interview including me , I accepted my anxiety which cause me to smile . Then I have the interview anyway - it went good .

How do you accept? Do you just say to yourself "I accept my anxiety"

@Ulax Nope I feel through it . I try to stop resistance to the anxiety and try to feel it on purpose when I am anxious .

How long do you feel it for?

For sometime like minutes . Then I take action in the moment despite feeling anxious . Even though I am not a sort of perfectionist/badass at it.
