The toxic ideology behind AI companies

Not sure if this video has been posted already but it's worth the watch

Boils down to: both OpenAi and Anthropic are deeply indoctrinated by this weird doomer religion. So everytime you hear doomsday talk about AI, now you know where it comes from.

Emile Torres is so excited in his explanations that his breathing stays shallow. He doesn’t breathe deeply. This trait is one that I also have to contend with at times . I wonder how many of the listening audience see this in themselves and also feel like it’s time for a confessional. For the sake of dry observational inquiry and the much sought after healing or resolution of this annoyance in life. Maybe this digression should have gone into my personal journal instead,,,,

Anyway, his enthusiasm mixed with the ominous scenarios damages his credibility perhaps in a way that adds to the complexity of the conversation. I felt compelled to listen to a follow-up explanation put together by the interviewer.

Ethics within AI and the reality we end up with is extremely important. Thank you @Butters for starting this thread. One question on my mind is the subject of us merging with technology. The possible transhumanism that awaits. How much of a possibility is it that we can upload ourselves into the cloud and have eternal life made possible by an ethical and benevolent super AI,,,? I’m so far removed from this conversation that it sounds more like wishful thinking among deluded youth and young adults who grew up in this rather cloistered environment. Please share your informative opinions whoever you may be. Hopefully minus the know-it-all-smartasses intent upon a never ending one-up-man-ship pissing contest.
