Choose which is most accurate.

Everyone can do all the functions. It's about homing in on which functions you call home most of the time.

There are not that many INTPs on the forum. Even fewer INTJs, you and @Natasha Tori Maru are rare! The prevalence in the general population is 2.5% INTJs and 4% INTPs, it's maybe a bit higher on the forum but I don't think so. 

Intuition is actually a rare trait, 75% of the population are sensors over intuitors. 

Those are my functions as an INTP! 

I'm a huge fan of the MBTI framework. It's not foolproof but has been massively instrumental in getting me to understand my interests and natural strengths better. 

Taking notes with Obsidian has been a game changer for my dominant Ti trait. It's actually my favorite pastime in the world: using Ne to find patterns, write them down, and connect them to other ideas I have to create an undebatable understanding of reality. 

I totally get how Leo built Actualized.org now, building a career researching stuff as an independent-minded thinker is very hard but if you have a background in marketing, build up an audience and then run a blog it makes a lot of sense as a business model.

I have a different life experience and career trajectory than him but we think alike. Especially as I've been getting more into game development, it helps me understand the universe better and see the divine pattern behind everything. Life is really cool in its design; it does fundamentally make a lot of sense.

I've only met one other INTJ in my real life (my Dad!).

2 INTP's - I really admire how thorough and diligent their analysis, logical clarity and frameworks are.

1 ENTP - my GOD I love the combative, argumentative prowess.

Does anyone else tend to score as a different type depending on what phase of life they're in? (by this, I mean goals and priorities, the type people I'm around, and how often I want or need to be around people)

Classically I've scored as INTP, but I've also gotten INFJ, INFP, and INTJ occasionally as well. 

I've even consistently gotten ENTP/J during the most social phases of my life, which may be evidence of nothing else other than having been a social chameleon IRL.

I'm not sure what to make of it, and I've never put in the time to learn about the whole stacking business, so the whole Te/Ni/ Se/ Fi tends to read like mainstream astrology to me lol. 

 

I've noticed that one pattern tends to dominate though over the years though:

I'm most often about 90%+ introversion, minimum 70-80% intuition, 40-60% feeling OR thinking (going either way depending on my priorities), and almost perfectly split on perception and judgement (going slightly either way).

 

Has anyone else noticed a distinct pattern of their own?

@eos_nyxia Maybe depending on what functions are currently being developed and levels of growth? 

Do you go by the cognitive functions or 4 letter label?

In my experience there is a big difference - it was only after I read and fully understood the functions I was able to figure out my type (also @Joshe assisted there). The tests weren't very good. They could only tell me I was Ni dom.

I'm mostly familiar with the 4 letter label and am only very generally familiar with the functions. There is a lot I don't know much about and I haven't exactly learned much just from observing people talk about their stacks, which is how I tend to learn the quickest. (It reads like a foreign language TBH.)

Maybe it is worth learning more though.

@eos_nyxia Some tests are better than others; 16 personalities is very shallow. The true ones that psychologists use are like 500 questions.

Stress can skew your answers, as can answering from who you want to be rather than who you actually are.

That's why looking into cognitive functions made so much sense to me. For a period of my life, I lived a more extraverted lifestyle and projected wanting to be an extrovert, but at my core, I'm an INTP to the bone in terms of how I prefer to approach life.

It's just a guess, but from what I've seen from you, you strike me as INTP, which has dominant Ti (Introverted Thinking) . The 4-letters are basically useless, and like you said, not far from astrology. Things start making sense once you learn the functions. 

This is what an INTP looks like most often: 

• Internal logical consistency
• Analytical thinking
• Conceptual precision
• Defining and refining concepts
• Identifying underlying principles
• Detecting contradictions
• Deconstructing ideas
• Building internal logical frameworks
• Independent reasoning
• Continual refinement of understanding
