The Hell of Porn Addiction

You want me to be more precise, but you’re correcting me for something I never actually said. I never claimed porn is more physically dangerous than drugs. Maybe read what I wrote instead of arguing with a point I didn’t make.

You claimed porn is "not even close to" ("worse than") drugs. Which does not specify "physical" or "non-physical". Maybe porn does destroy your brain after all.

That’s true. That’s why it’s important to learn how to consciously process and manage your emotions, so you can heal the wounds you never dealt with while you were addicted. When you become present, you have to face your demons because you can no longer escape into porn. You have to face yourself in order to truly free yourself from the addiction.

Agreed!

I was talking about how difficult it can be to escape, not claiming porn is more damaging than drugs in every sense. If you interpreted “not even close” as a claim about overall harm, then you misunderstood what I meant.

@Monster Energy It's really strange that some of us who got addicted to porn earlier in life, share the experience of this being the most difficult thing to break out of. People who just casually use it can't understand the struggle of it.

But also, it's an opportunity to truly look at the impulses and see through them. Not acting on the urges feel like turture sometimes but only through that suffering can it be solved.

Exactly. When you’re truly addicted, people who use it casually have no idea what the struggle feels like. The urge can feel like torture, but that’s where the real work begins. You stop running from it, you face it, and you realize an urge only controls you if you let it.

"Porn is not even close to drugs" does not tell us anything about "how difficult it is to escape" any more than how physically damaging it is. There is nobody misunderstanding here, only somebody who doesn't know how to communicate what they're actually thinking about.
