Thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

5 posts in this topic

I used to find the movies a bit silly but now that I'm working on my own IP I see it as a unique and genius multimedia adaption of so many storylines that leaves me in awe.

What are your guys thought on it? I'm going back and rewatching all the MCU movies and taking extensive notes on it to understand how they tied it together both from a storytelling perspective and from a business product.

My next move is watching all the guardian of the galaxy movies as I've never watched them and then rewatching all the avengers to prepare for Doomsday in December.

Also now that the world has wars popping up the theme of uniting all our best people against evil seems more topical than ever so it's less ridiculous than watching them 5 years ago.

Who is your guy's favorite character? I don't really have one yet I'll get back to that in a few weeks of consuming the content.

very sick. the whole thing pulls you in, it's very interesting.

the only thing that bothers me is that Marvel wrote themselves into a corner by making their heroes and villains ridiculously overpowered, then start punching and having sword fights. thy chose drama over something that males sense. You expect me to believe Thanos when he has almost every Infinity Stone and still decides to throw hands instead of ending the fight in one fucking second?

I dont read comic or watch marvel movies but I saw this scene and its a real thing that happens in real life. Its accurate of awakening. Imagine the man is invisible and it just happens to him alone it happen to me. Including the press on the forehead you feel it.

But hes not laughing when it happens its so funny.

He even kills the guru after he awakens him which is accurate as well.

My favourite marvel character is carnage.

That's a good point, I think AI writing will make worldbuilding much more nuanced and in depth over the next few decades. I must bow down to the writers of the past it was impressive but most of the tropes are washed up by now like lazers and idk aren't there a few versions of basically Superman now?

What I liked about Thanos is he ended up having real damage and killing a bunch of heroes which is not usually done in story telling. That's why I really liked Game of thrones and Attack on Titan, it feels more real and raw than most shows. It's also a bit silly that the hero always wins, shouldn't the villain win in a lot of stories and the world is reshaped in their image and sometimes its actually better or at least you get to see what happened?

That's cool, excited to see the context for it. Yeah I had my most profound awakening in a nice place overlooking the whole city and saw things that seemed too good to be true. It seems to be happening so that's fun, big fan.

It's an impressive feat from a production standpoint.

But in terms of psychological depth and original storyline there is not much there.

Prints money though…
