The key to realizing the absence of a fixed self lies in understanding change and impermanence. Nothing remains the same.. even our sense of identity. The person I was as a child is not the same person I became in my teenage years ..nor will I be the same person in old age. In fact..I am not even the same person from one passing moment to the next. We are constantly changing and what we call the “self” is simply an ever-evolving process rather than something permanent or unchanging.

Contemplating the nature of language is a fascinating topic . It’s easy to dismiss language as meaningless sounds and symbols but I think it’s more nuanced than that . Science and technology would have not come into existence without meaning ..symbols and language in general .

Definitely, it's a critical part of communication, so is body language. Language is definitely an interesting topic. Funny story: I almost fell in love with a way older woman speaking with a French accent to me. Its a very romantic sounding language.

 

I was talking about creating narratives in our minds or adopting others narratives about reality, and then functioning from that perspective, as if those narratives are absolutely true.

There's nothing wrong per-se about exploring/imagining different concepts, perspectives, narratives about reality. 

Like flipping a coin and landing on a new belief system for the next few years.

Be weary about anyone claiming to be absolutely certain about anything really.

The answer may also be unknowable or incomprehensible.

There is no contradiction between the ultimate answer is unknowable or incomprehensible (which it is ) and that still we can approach more and more accurate understanding of reality which is NOT just beliefs taken on blind faith like religious dogma. Knowledge is possible even relatively speaking . Even the notion of there not being a separate self was introduced to you at some late point in your life . Even the idea that reading and thinking and learning should be dropped was acquired by learning and reading about it . Again I don’t disagree that in the most absolute sense we don’t know shit but at the relative level knowledge is possible. Look at something like AI.  Who would design AI..Elon Musk or Tony Parsons ?
