Sadism is the key to all of it.

Haha.

Yeah, I was actually going down that line of thought the other week. Like, how did we miss this?

How so in this context? You guys think he enjoys causing pain to these women he's intertwined with? That would be very strange psychology, I understand wanting to inflict pain on your enemy but somehow making women that you like and bond with the enemy and enjoying causing them pain as you get them pregnant would be a level of psyche fuckery that is rare.

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and just chalk it down to immaturity and cognitive dissonance as if it was more due to sadism in this case it would indicate a very dark form of psychopathy that I don't think Aba is guilty of.

I think he just wants to fuck and is famous and his upbringing doesn't make that paradigm possible in terms of how he defines himself so it comes out as him lying about wanting to commit to these girls while he just enjoys fucking fangirls.

No, no. I did not mean Aba.

I mean true Dark Triad types.

Aba may be immature, but he is not Dark Triad. Comedians are often immature or underdeveloped people.

Yeah I agree sadism is pretty much the antithesis to non-duality. Interesting how that works but all the other traits if not fuelled by sadism are not that bad but once you start to rejoice from the suffering of others then you're on a dark path.

Narcissism is a delusional sense of self

Psychopathy is being in your own bubble and not connecting with others that well

Machiavellianism is being super calculated

Most people have these traits to some degree(massive difference between one of the traits and a full-blown diagnosable personality disorder though) but if you enjoy causing pain to others(outside of a sexually mutually enjoyable context) that's gonna lead you to all kinds of strange devil-like behaviours.

Yeah, I didn't mean Aba either. Aba doesn't appear to have any of the elements.

I was agreeing with Leo that I think sadism seems part and parcel to something like narcissism. Maybe not all of them, but most. Every narc I've ever observed was willing to kick anyone and everyone under the bus for their own gain. And if the person they kick under the bus is an enemy, then they will take delight in the kick. So basically, narcissism seems to more often than not have sadism baked into it.

I remember telling my buddy a long time ago that if Trump and Hillary Clinton were alone in the desert and if Hillary was hanging from a cliff, Trump would delight in stepping on her fingers to make her fall if he knew he could get away with it. He was like "nuh uh, you're crazy".

Trump is sadistic. He delights in ruining people's careers/survival and he makes subtly gleeful announcements when one of his enemies dies. And they wouldn't be so subtle if he didn't have to worry about political backlash.

A fucking dark tetrad is running the world right now, lol.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

Putting a name to the pattern is a good idea because the pattern does exist. It doesn't make sense to say "Dark triad + sadism", lol. I actually love the term because it's a good example of how terms box in our thinking. For example, it's easy to say "are they dark triad?" and then tick off the boxes, but that makes it easy to overlook sadism. And if you look closely, sadism does seem to cluster with the triad.

Yes, but it also comes with risks, such as blanket diagnosis or broad generalizations or vilifying innocent human mistakes. Laypeople have proved this over and over again with their poor critical thinking, they weaponize the term and abuse it like they do with ADHD and autism.

A dark personality could look exactly like you're describing. That's how they are effective in the first place. They project an image of perfect mirror of what they want you to think. And they get you from there.

How could you tell that she's different?

Or to be more specific, how do you distinguish between trauma and darkness? They're essentially the same -- a mix of selfishness with low consciousness.

With the dark tetrad being sadism, narcissism, Machiavellians, and psychopathy... those are all very specific issues.

And I've met a ton of people dealing with trauma and emotional regulation issues... and some of their lives are falling apart... and some have psychiatric disorders... and others might have serious insecure attachment issues.

But none of these constitute the dark tetrad.

Someone who is genuinely in the dark tetrad views themselves as fundamentally above other humans. And they see other humans as pawns for their own using, with no conscience or empathy towards the pain or suffering of others.

This is the type of person who enjoys seeing others suffer... and who is very cold, calculated, and manipulative.

And they usually don't feel their feelings very deeply at all.

Contrast that with someone who is a hot mess and anxiously attached... and is dealing with all kinds of vulnerabilities.

And maybe that person can operate in a deeply dysfunctional way. But it's not coming from Sadistic drives, psychopathy, narcissism, or Machiavellian manipulation.

They're just a person who's struggling with traumas or other mental health issues... and has coping strategies that aren't working for them.

I have met someone who embodies both personalities at the same time. She was deeply traumatized and insecure, yet also very cold and manipulative and sadistic.

She wanted me as a friend who's still in love with her:

  • She couldn't be with me due to external forces; mainly her family, but couldn't let go of me (insecure attachment).
  • She seemed to enjoy my suffering in not being able to have her (sadism) .
  • She was extremely manipulative and wanted to control me (machiavellianism/psychopathy).
  • She also framed me staying with her as a favor she was doing me (narcissism).

And even though I could clearly see through everything she did and was, I stayed longer than I had to, because I understood how vulnerable she was and loved her anyways.

It's a complicated story. And I still don't think she's evil, even after all that. I think she's one of the best things that ever happened to me.
