Of course. The asymmetry is a feature. The pressure of selecting for quantity versus the pressure of selecting for quality is how we evolved because it works for getting good genes.

Also the fact that human pregnancy and birth is as costly and risky as it is is a huge factor. For most animals, pregnancy isn't nearly as debilitating. If reproduction was cheaper, safer and humans developed faster, then our view on the value of human life would probably be different.

You may feel this way after sex because from a biological perspective ..reproduction is one of the strongest drives in human life. Biology is fundamentally centered around survival and reproduction. and humans despite having highly developed brains and complex emotions are still mammals influenced by these instincts.

For many men sex  serves as a release from stress and tension.For women .. the biological implications of pregnancy and raising children have historically carried greater significance in terms of reproduction and survival.
