The video made it out to look like mud was 100 times cheaper. lol

Especially if you could use the mud under the ground the land was purchased  on.

Apparently, they artificially made it more expensive by enforcing rebar into the Adobe and various  other corrupt enforcement that reduces the quality of the product and makes it more expensive.

Mud houses are quite primitive. Most people don't want to live in a mud house.

It's only appealing to an eco-freak.

It would be hard to resell a mud house. So banks are not going to be eager to issue mortgages for them.

People really only have houses thanks to banks bankrolling them. The resale value of the house is crucial so banks can get their money back when mortgage isn't paid.

Not to mention zero services flexibility for mud houses. Imagine dropping a cable for a new ethernet port or wanting a new GPO... In solid mud wall lol. No one prioritises air quality over their technological comfort.

The whole building industry is pretty corrupt. Cheap is the name of the game. That's why every new building looks like the same architectural box - cheap design. Cheap to build material wise. Lower labour costs. Anything pretty or organic like a curve is $$$

That's reality. Building organic stuff that doesn't look sloppy is hard. Aesthetics is a luxury most home-buyers can't afford. Most people are lucky to own a box home at all.

How is that possible? They are saying families with no prior experience are digging up dirt from there land and building these homes in dead poor countries. But in the richist countries it costs 5x more?

Most people in rich countries hire someone to build it for them, doing it yourself is cheaper, some say free. It would be free in the rich country if done yourself, it would be like 2x a normal house if you hire someone, more laborious.

Some people build their own houses from scratch in rich countries. Takes a lot longer usually. Can cost more. Dunning Kruger effect.

Also in poor countries you normally don't have ten quadrillion regulations to adhere to and insane beauracy. Compliance and building surveyor's. Local council permits just to install a piece of straw in your front post etc. Sure, they have regulations. But it won't cuck you as much as a rich western first world country.
