looksocracy

9 posts in this topic

what do people get from denying life is looksocracy? Are they evil? Trying to mislead? A person can accept a reality and disgaree with it. If a person hates Trump, they stil must accept he is the POTUS. Or if a person opposes communism whislt being a Chinese citizen, they must accept that the CCP solely rules China. I genuinely think they're evil and out to mislead.

Looksocracy is definitely a stretch, if you framed your original statement in that exact way then it's false and they were right to oppose you. Possesing certain looks considered to be hot, would give you a lot of personal power (better quality of life because people treat you better), but in terms of actual power in the way it's generally understood - i.e. the degree of your influence on other people's lives - your looks translate into that very, very loosely or not at all. They've got next to zero effect in that regard. So yes, the assertion that society is somehow a looksocracy is incorrect

It's more of a money, fame, and skills -ocracy.

You don't need to be good-looking to create massive success for yourself.

Don't envy people who coast off their good looks. That's like envying trust fund babies.

Look at Owen Cook. He's not good-looking and look at all the success he created for himself.

If you focus on why you can't, you will never succeed.

I don't think anyone denies how it's playing out on social media but social media isn't real life.  Comparing yourself to others is a hallmark of mediocrity so right off the bat you're your own problem.

There's plenty of attractive people whose lives completely suck so while looks can certainly help, it typically relies on what's beneath the skin and if you got any of that then you can definitely get by.

word.

i think most intelligent people are way past looks

you can still find people attractive, but that´s just the cherry not the entire cake lol

for me it´s more about how you show up for yourself and others than anything else...

It's not denying reality. It is simply recognising there isn't merit to looking good. It's not a mark of achievement. Not a mark of excellence. Not something to be admired. It just is. Being attractive is simply a temporary state that will leave with time.

Attractive people got a good diceroll from God. That's it.

I think you might personally value good looks a lot. This is also causing you to resent those who are good looking. But these people could also be born ugly. It's just random.

Life isn't fair. It's not a vending machine where you put good in and good comes out.

Just make the best of what you have and forget how others look. It doesn't effect you. And if it does? You are allowing it to affect you and creating the reaction within yourself.

@Shermaningeorgia funny how you use Trump as an example. Is trump hot? Is same altman good looking? What about mark zuckerberg?

The only really good looking successful people are actors, basically.

Take it easy there Tiger, don't poke too many holes in the OPs argument hahaha 😂

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.
