Quite the morbid turn.

You know, before he dies.

Sure. A new interview with him would be amazing.

On a recent newsletter, he told that he can't keep "secrets" anymore and he will talk openly about extraordinary states of consciousness, regardless if people make a cosmology or not about it.

He will say everything on his new book.

Don't you fucking 'Isness' me! 😃

But I do actually agree - he is what, 76 now? Very vital character. It can be quite deceiving.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

Ah! The YouTube released snippets of the book, narratived by Ralston, made me think he could be going this way.

Pending mortality can really change us.

Yeah. I would like to ask him about aliens, spirits, new kinds of intelligences, extraordinary states of consciousness, the future of onsciousness work.

Make it happen @Leo Gura

@Leo Gura Also, I don't know if this would work, but you might want to contact Werner Erhard and Stewart Emery, too. But hurry up! These guys are not particularly young. xD

Not sure he'd talk in terms of "states of consciousness", but definitely.

It was more about his "level" of consciousness, I think. The self there is seen for what it is. Whatever. It might be a bit like interviewing Gautama before he dies.

I am not interviewing people. I tried that and it's not for me.

Also, I find talking to Ralston futile because he does not want to have a conversation, he just wants to dictate his view. He is not open to an actual conversation about reality. It's his way or no way. If you disagree with him, he is not going to entertain it. To me this is not interesting and it defeats the purpose of conversation.

Well, time to give up your pride, then. ;)

@UnbornTao It's an interesting problem. How do you have a conversation with people who are very advanced in their consciousness? It becomes hard to have conversations with them. Myself included.

It's also hard to have conversations with teachers because they are always in teacher mode.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Quite a pickle. I guess it would be more like an interview - letting him talk, and you asking poignant questions occasionally, like the format of his podcast.

"Bhagavā Ralston, what is the nature of objective reality?" :P

(Tongue-in-cheek, probably not the best question to ask.)

Actually, if you think you're at his level, what are you even doing? It's safe to say that nobody currently alive is.

Ralston is strong at cutting through spiritual fantasies and bullshit, which is also a strong suit of yours.

Doesn’t seem like he’s explored many higher states of Consciousness outside of his sober state, however a lot of his dictating comes from a Truthful place I feel

Yeah, and I don't think that sober bullshit will fly with him either. First fantasy to demolish.

Why not talk to Alex O’Connor. He has a much bigger channel.

This would be huge if it could happen. Alex O’Connor has been becoming more and more idealist lately, flat out stating that materialism is false recently. He’s also interested in Bernardo Kastrup’s ideas.

Speaking of which, an interview with the Essential Foundation (which disseminates Kastrup’s analytical idealism) would also be a great opportunity.

What is this?

That's the only question

It is funny because he says that "there are kinds of awakenings, ones more profound than others" but he hates the term "levels of consciousness".

If that's accurate, ask him what that's about.

It is my understanding he is on board with 'states', states of being, but will not apply that to consciousness or awareness.

I recall him elucidating 'states of consciousness' implies levels. Implying some progress to an end, or goal. Or aim. And that that is NOT IT. It gets in the way.

I think he steers students away from this as it detracts from engagement with what just is, plainly, absent of all concept, overlay or idea.

I am not directly quoting here but paraphrasing what I have heard Ralston reiterate multiple times, threaded through many YouTube sessions.

At the very heart of the issue could simply be a language nuance.
