I think the traumatic nature of his death is causing people to elevate Charlie to some kind of enlightened political status. This is a guy who said he would force his 10 year old daughter to deliver the baby if she was raped. He was consumed more by untruth than truth. The very nature of an open debate is to foster understanding of different view points and deepen your own. He did lots of that. That's the important thing. That's why he shined. Because he played by the rules of truth. Not backstabbing, blackmailing or spinning lies.
