You guys are so dense. Arguing with me over silly things.

If today the Buddha was as popular as he was in his day, he would make millions. And this is a good thing because it means he is useful to others, it means his teachings are popular.

Look at Eckhart Tolle. That is a modern Buddha. Net worth: $30 million. Does that mean he's some greedy fuck? No. It just means his books sell well.

I know, which is why I quoted @Thought Art's post instead of yours. I don't necessarily disagree, but it has to be done in a certain way for people to find it appealing. This is where the conflict lies.

‘He is useful to others’ As someone who cares about the truth, I want to ask you if there are really ‘others’ to be useful to. And if not, where will the motivation come from?

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Ask that to Buddha. Ask him why he teaches. I will wait for his answer.

I understand why he would teach. That makes sense. It is easy to remain aware of the truth when you are teaching it.

What doesn’t make sense is why you would run for president, become a boxer, or start a fortune 500 company. To do the above would require that you completely forget that you are in Maya and pretend that it is real. In essence you are inflating your ego by believing the false reality it created.

This view is too cartoonish. That's not the only possibility.

This is as low level engagement as someone saying that aiming for Nirvana is a bitch running away move, where you cant be bothered to actually help others using the wisdom you acquired/embody.

Just take a look at most enlightened beings and you immediately realize that a good chunk of them are/were interested in helping others even though its all just Maya bro.

You  say that it makes sense for Buddha to teach, but given your logic it shouldnt  make any sense to you , because why be bothered with reminding yourself about teachings if you could just leave any given time? Why not just dissolve and go for mahāsamādhi? Jesus also could have done that move , but he didnt, and we could include here a bunch of others here.

Do you really think that someone can run for president without losing awareness that they are in a dream?

It would be the first time it happened in human history.

I haven’t really brought that point up, but I love how we have taken as dogma that Buddha and Jesus were enlightened. It seems to be the religion of this forum.

I have not seen strong evidence that either of them (especially Jesus) were enlightened to the Solipsistic nature of reality.

President??? We were talking about money and business, not politics. You changed the issue completely.

Engaging with the dream doesn't mean you lose awareness of it.

It is far easier to trick someone, than to convince them they have been tricked.
