Owen Cook: How to be an Executor!

22 posts in this topic

I watched the whole thing. Here are some of the takeaways.

Most people work on autopilot. They don’t want to think for themselves, so they ride the guardrails that society has created for them.

Most people are derpers. They are in a derp state. Their mind zones out.

Thinking will cause them to release cortisol, which is a stress hormone. Most people are on autopilot because they don’t want to be stressed. So they don't think and let others think for them.

Make a conscious choice to take actions.

Make sure you are out of autopilot. If you write with your right hand, start writing with your left hand. etc.

Take responsibility for your life. Do hard things. Read big, complex books. Fights against the derp state. Raise your emotional bandwidth.

Stick to your core values. Don’t let society distract you from your highest potential. Do not seek validation from others.

Critical thinking is critical. Reach transcendent states without any substances.

Most people test boundaries until there is a boundary.

Realising that you are in a derp state is to first step to getting out of it. Doing actions can be a meditation in itself.

Yes, it's too ambitious and materialistic if you are serious about spirituality and philosophy.

Owen's problem is he can't chill out and just do nothing. He is like a rat in a wheel, always needing to run at 11/10 or else he feels bad about himself. But no matter how fast he runs the rat just spins in place.

That is why I do not focus on materialistic goals.

What Owen needs most of all to reach a new level is to stop all work for 2 years and just live alone in a cabin in the woods -- not working. But this would kill his ego. Owen is addicted to the grind.

He is like Gary Vee. Grindset hustle culture. I personally despise this approach to life and work.

2 years ago Owen said he was gonna stop running free tours and move to Montana.

Yet he's still touring and living in Hollywood.

It's like "Dammit Owen! You were so close!"
