Predator: Badlands is out!

...and it's a big disappointment. I enjoyed the PREY movie much more (very interesting story). Badlands is like a mix of Star Wars and Avatar with a predator character. Nothing original. This is unfortunate as both movies were made by the same diterctir. Your thoughts?

The previews didn't make me want to watch it. Too much weird goofy stuff.

No one wants to see the Predator as a lovable main character.

Next: Xenomorph as lead, with character arch: are we the baddies?

Don't watch it. It's clearly made for teenagers. It's not a terrible movie, but has very little to do with all previous movies.

They should have done another time period prequel like Prey, but set in another interesting time.

I think the native American theme fitted perfectly. Another great fit would be samurai. But any historical era would be interesting.

Just make the movie realistic enough and don't make the predator act like a little girl lol

I think this should have been the premise - make it set in ancient Mesopotamia and work it into some of the mythos there etc 

Half the meaning of story is written if they take it from history and Frankenstein it together

IMHO the coolest yet the most depressing setting would be WW1 - Christmas truce. Both sides would have not only refused to fight each other, but they would have to join forces against a common enemy - the predator. 

Another one - The 1845 Franklin expedition. There is already a series about a monster killing the whole expedition, but a predaror movie would have been much better IMO.
