Life in Canada is poisoning my psyche

Hi, born & raised Ukrainian here. I've been living in Canada for almost 4 years and I would like to share my perspective on life here. I lived mostly in 2 provinces: Ontario (Toronto) and Alberta (Banff & Calgary). I work in a luxury hotel so my work involves a lot of communication with people. Let’s start with the things that I love about Canada:

1. You can meet people from everywhere (especially India & China).

2. You can be who you are (nobody cares about what you wear, what you believe, what is your sexual orientation, what are your family plans, etc.)

3. Minimal corruption (compared to my country).

4. Living conditions are good (even if you don’t earn that much).

5. It’s easy to fulfill your basics needs (food & shelter).

6. It’s safe (mostly).

Now let’s get to the things that I can’t handle and why I’ll be moving.

1. Fakeness and inability to be intimate or direct presented as politeness (empty conversations).

2. Artificiality as the core of personality in people (identities build around entertainment, social media, celebrities).

3. Obsession with things, career growth and success.

4. Addictions.

5. Housing cost.

6. Cold weather.

I’m confused, how is this poisoning your psyche? Could you elaborate a bit more? I’m curious about your perspective.

It's poisoning my psyche because I'm used to blunt and direct, authentic communication and I feel hungry for it.

Where are you from?

That's not Canada, that's mostly the environment / city you are living in. Move more into the country, mountains or beaches, all those "issues" are far more relaxed, soft and no longer as much of an "issue". Cold weather? Raise your vibration brother ! Get active, move that body, mind and spirit !

Running away to the tropics or hotter climate will not solve the issue, the peace must be found within then the rest will take care of itself.

So its not just Canada that has those issues, its most other places closer to the city environment, (besides the cold weather).

The Human was never designed to live inside a man-made motherboard. Its an artificial system.

Nature is all around, if you can't live in nature, bring nature home, mimic nature, plant a garden ect... It makes a big difference over time.

I am but a reflection... a mirror... of you... of me... in a cosmic dance of separative... unity...

I live in Toronto, its crazy here, the biggest problem here is too many ppl, unconscious ppl.  Ppl generally here are polite, but the problems of the USA are coming here, crime is up, gang activity is up, and although ppl are nice and polite, there is more of the elitist types too, especially in Toronto lol, you can point them out just by the way they dress and act without interacting with them..

But Toronto has beautiful parks, lots of green area and its close to the wilderness, and hour out of the city and your in the middle of nowhere, so that is good..

Overall this is what is happening in all the big cities, to escape it you have to isolate a bit..but in the end if we don't raise the general level of Human Consciousness we are doomed I think, too many critical situations are on the rise, and if profit, power and control are the only things on the minds of the power players, the rest of us are doomed!

Take care of Yourselves and family is the most important thing, be kind and giving when You can!

I'm a Canadian and I can relate to this statement. We've been a culture that's been raised (generationally) to "say nothing at all if you got nothing nice to say"...and it's handicapped people, it's rather pathetic actually. I wonder what other nations/cultures have experienced this too?

Toronto will always have a special place in my heart. The parks are nice there and in general it's worth living there for a while.

The midnight summer vibe in downtown is definitely something, same as crack heads smoking crack on 505 street cars xD

I get you. Similar issue here, moved from Romania to Sweden. Well this is Stage Green brother. fakness, lack of personality, shitty relationships.

Find a cool partner that also had enough of this shit and live happily and authentically together. Focus o yourself and let the snowflakes be snowflakes.

I think most of the people here are stage Orange.
On the other hand, I don't want to be dependent on my partner to have all my social and emotional needs met.

Also the climate is killing me. I like lively vibes with dances, beaches. I don't care that much about career success or getting a lot of money.

I think climate plays a huge role in the way people communicate.

How do you like your life in Sweden?

Yea, people in Canada (probably other western countries also but I can’t speak for them) are in this weird group think where everyone is wearing this social persona and being nice by convention; seems like very few people have actual personality, and it’s seen as weird to have one in public. Shame really, it’s a dead culture.

I think Canada is a great place for self-realization and developing personal skills, perfect place for stage Orange. Also, most of the psychedelics are easily accessible, so potentially good place for spiritual seekers if you can avoid thousands of distractions of course.

If you value genuine human connection, intimacy & authenticity Canada is one of the worst countries possible, probably the entire western culture.

When I was a child my grandparents used to say "the rotten West" and I think there is definitely some truth to that, especially now.

I don't know why but I think that even 20-30 years ago things were way better here, maybe I'm wrong.
