Sequels are a trap!

There are some exceptions to this rule. For example the movie Cloverfield (2008) wasn't very good, but the sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) was much better in my opinion.

Cloverfield Lane was great.

It was not a sequel. That gross JJ Abrams just slapped the Cloverfield name on it at the last minute.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed that film when it came out. I still remember it vividly even after only seeing it once in the cinema. There's some brilliantly tense moments throughout and I actually gave a shit about the characters cause they didn't feel 2 dimensional.

It wasn't a typical sequel, but it followed up on the first movie in the last 15 minutes or so. It was also a completely different genre. One of the best psycho thrillers ever made.

Those aliens had nothing to do with Cloverfield monster. Just some bullshit JJ Abrams pulled out of his ass at the last second as a branding ploy.

Don't be trusting that JJ Abrams. He is a sneaky Hollywood devil.

I get what you mean. That part of the movie is basically corrupted. They just wanted to inflate sales, so they put the "Cloverfield" name on a movie that wouldn't otherwise get much attention. Creating movie franchises is much more profitable than making standalone movies with brand new names.

@Leo Gura I seen you like total recall, do you like the matrix

No. It is overrated and pretentious.

Here is a video essay on alien franchise that outlines several reoccouring themes, a struggle of ego and technology and corporacracy intertwined, though Ridley Scot had his own biblical musings tied in and perhaps giving other vibe and perhaps more depth to his depictions

Ridley Scott's themes suck. He tries to get all philosophical about it but it just comes off amateurish and ruins what should be a simple Giger monstrosity show.

Androids ruined the entire Alien franchise. It should be a show about Xenomorphs and their horrific ancient homeworld. The xenomorph lore and homeworld should be along the lines of the game Scorn. Not generic human hi-tech sci-fi tripe.

A proper Alien sequel must involve exploring the lore of the xenomorph homeworld, which is an HR Giger biomechncial horror world where no amount of human technology lets humans survive.

They probably should have kept with the themes of body horror, rape, forced impregnation and violation that the original HR Giger themes revolved around.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Ridely Scott is like George Lucas, he does not understand his own creation. He just keeps making it worse.

Stop! Stop! It's already dead.

Thank God I'm not the only one who wishes that was what the Alien movies explored hahah so much untapped potential.

I'm still waiting for a movie trilogy or tv show on the level of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy from the 2000s. The amount of love and passion that was put into those movies is unmatched by almost anything these days. The Rings of power tv show on the other hand was absolute rubbish And not worth anyone's time.

I'd say maybe the Dune movies come to mind as something released recently but they are still a far second place.
