Relationships Are Futile

What's the point of pursing relationships if you're just going to just be disappointed in the end? No one will ever make you happy and you ultimately have to learn that self-love is the only stable constant vs the love from others.

My mind is mired in cynicism right now but isn't that the truth?

The only way I can reconcile this is trying to enjoy expressing yourself to others for its own sake but even that can feel empty if never reciprocated.

I'm not interested in hearing feel good advice right now. My heart is hardened and I want just the truth right now independent of any of my needs.

Your first mistake is looking for the truth on an internet forum, bro... c'mon...

2nd, just because the WHOLE DOMAIN (which is a BIG can of fucking worms, I assure you) of social/human interaction & connection MAY NOT provide you with the Greatest Joy that Life Does Have to Offer...

Does NOT mean that it is bad or futile or unworthy of your attention; if anything the opposite is the case, that great care and consciousness need be the cornerstones of a healthy relationship to the existence of relationships, and that you cannot escape unless you die.

You do drink water and eat food, presumably. So the hubris of your question is comparable to this one:

"Why eat food and drink water if it is bound to end in disappointment & anticlimax (which it is)?"

BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SURVIVE!

NO ONE EVER SAID THAT SURVIVAL IS BAD!

It's just that "This Work" (Leo's Body of Work & spirituality/mysticism/"higher-consciousness" in general) is about DISTINGUISHING Survival from what we are now so cleverly referring to as "TRUTH!"

If you are choosing to mire your mind in cynicism then no, it’s not the truth. But I think you also are aware that creating false hope is a form of avoidance to the truth as well. You’ve just swung too far now the opposite side. Come back to the middle. Yes it’s true that there is uncertainty when it comes to relationships, that there can be all sorts of ups and downs in them and often times if you set up expectations reality won’t match up with your idea with how relationships should be. You can definitely see more clearly and find what you value about relationships and want from them. I can tell you now that even though relationships can get very messy, even the most loving marriages have broken down, they still are worth it sometimes. And yes, choosing yourself is still always part of the equation, I think it’s fundamental. It doesn’t have to be all these extremes. It’s possible to accept the reality of relationships, yourself, all the ups and downs that come with them and still find rewards in them.
