If I am reading this right (its difficult to see the small print). The more countries you poll on this, largely, the more neutral the feeling, which is understandable as most people don't consider many countries in their day-to-day life.

For the China vs US angle, its largely due to China not having done as much damage yet. But they are trying hard to make up the gap.

People are people the world over and I've seen no difference in their fundamental drives, despite zazen's excellent critiques, they just use different vehicles to get there. Its still all zero sum games.

Also the line graph of China, Russia and America is extremely misleading here if you look at the actual data. Russia is almost bottom of the table.

China isn’t trying to make up a gap in damage currently, they’re actually expanding investments to try and coax countries towards them.

I don’t see how it’s misleading, it’s the same data. Russia is below the US in both.

Its implying that since starting a war Russia has become more popular internationally. Which is farcical.
*Starting / Fighting / Conducting a Special Operation - The verb isn't the point.

Although I am willing to admit war/violence etc (word isn't the point) might be popular these days, perhaps my bias is blinding me here.

Why do you think the perception of the most powerful countries are so bad ? Aside from Israel.  We will talk about Israel later.

Russia already had extremely low perception in the west, the Ukraine war decreases it there but probably not by a lot because there wasn’t much to lose. The rest of the world probably doesn’t empathize with Ukrainians as much and Russia increased ties with countries like China and India.

They aren’t, the only powerful ones with low perception are Russia and the US. Both are fairly obvious.

Because they impact more people's lives, and/or are scapegoated more. Most people's identities are tied to the nation-state level, if at all. So when a power outside of their own state influences them, they tend to react negatively to it.

Both corrupt both hypocritical both violent and vile. The US tied to Israel and the violence in the middle east. Lots of regime changes in Latin America and elsewhere. Supporting murderous dictators. The US now goes against the ICC and the UN Francesca Albanese. And now also left UNESCO. Lots of bullying too.

US is hated because of tariffs, Russia is hated because of imperialism.

There is a growing sentiment that authoritarians have it more together as a state.

In China, the nation own the corporations while it is more the other way around in the US.

China is many countries biggest market or business partner so they make a lot of money with China.

China is the largest trading partner of over 120 countries.

Largest trading partner of EU.

Then this chart is worthless to me if the perception changes like the stock market.

What do you do with the stock market? You're in it for the long term and you don't sell when it dips up and down

Both superpowers.  I don't know maybe it has something to do with it? How quickly they forget that both also saved the world from Hitler but what have you done for me lately.

It’s quite expensive actually.

But it’s not bad.

It‘s not free but it’s mandatory.
