I think marriage should be timed so you have to renew it

Hello, here is my stupid, but I think more true way about marriage.

Since relationships are dynamic, the marriage should have an expiry date and you have to renew the status if both people agree.

I view marriage as something that you have committed to over a period of time. You have married to your location of living, your carrier, your hobbies, the people who you let in your life etc. and that tends to change over time. So it gives false sense of security and asset distribution mechanism.

Regarding the assets, that is a whole different discussion I don't think I am ready for.

We elect  politicians every x years, but many of us live in dead marriages...

What do you guys think?

Yes, but that extra work reflects the commitment as in any other aspect of life and those who want to be married will keep married.

Those you have accepted into your heart stay with you eternally even if you never see each other again. Marriage doesn't create this bond, marriage only celebrates this event. 

Although it may be possible to change how much influence these soul ties have on you or perhaps undo them to some extent aswell, not sure.

It’s like every person you’ve loved leaves a trace in your heart forever

I believe that soul ties can exist but I’m not sure if I believe that every single person has them

Nono, the thing is that "until death will take us apart" if you keep renewing it. And practically marriage is A LOT of cases is not life-long. I would blame Leo for coming up with this.

My comments on this topic would probably not be appreciated and frowned upon anyway. Here goes. You asked for it.

Marriage is just an institution. It was designed to get more money out of consumers. Married, money, get divorced, more money. Saying it should be timed and should be renewable is just another way of control. Another unnecessary societal rule that we don't need more of to put us in a cage and limit us more than we're limited already. Just like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine Day, Christmas Day, Easter and all these holidays and special days were designed around money-making profitable ideas and ways to get the public to spend money and capitalize off these so-called special days.

Marriage, and I'm not against it as I was once married, only benefits the state and slaps a label on for more identification purposes. It doesn't make one love the person any more or less they're with and doesn't guarantee monogamy and certainly not forever. There is no God that ordained marriage or put a blessing on it or made it holy or the right thing to do or else. It's a safety mechanism and another way of 'propertizing' each other. It's a personal choice and is only good or bad on a legal level and depends on the people involved. As far as renewing, that's as close to a contract as I've seen and is just making my points even more and only makes it more business-like than what it is already. At least leave a little dignity in the mix without introducing another way to put in in the same category as a rental property or lease.

If you need the government to lit a fire under your ass so you don't neglect your relationships then you shouldn't get married in the first place.

Just divorce if you don't want to be married anymore. It's just a promise of commitment at the end of the day. Not actual commitment.

@meta_male i had a disclamer in my OP. The idea is stupid. x) But it's an interesting irony/paradox. So many things have changes in how we transact with each other in business etc., but the institution of marriage and serial monogamy has stayed. Not that it's good or bad because of it. But it's there as it is, living in people's heads and guides people's value and judgment of others.
