What is hope?

25 posts in this topic

Hope seems like a very helpful thing. It seemingly keeps many people alive and whatever with a hope for a better future. It can also be „bad“ in the story. Like a woman staying with a violent guy in hope he will change. Sometimes it’s better to lose all hope. Hope can keep us trapped in fantasy stories and time.

Coping mechanism

Sometimes it's the journey itself that teaches/ A lot about the destination not aware of/No matter how far/
How you go/How long it may last/Venture life, burn your dread

Hope is dead. It finally died. But this is no reason to give up, it's time to wake up from our seemingly eternal slumber instead!

Hope was the hope that everything will turn just out alright. But it didn't. It gets worse and worse and we all sit and watch while we spiral into deeper darkness, numbing ourselves with our favourite addictions.

Do what you will, there's no shame in any of it. But SEE the POSSIBILITY for a TWIST. Your humanity is asked for now more than ever. What is humanity? That's what I ask of YOU! Tell me something BEYOND all this recycled, artificial bullshit we all try so much to get comfortable in.

It's warm—but it STINKS as soon as the sun comes out and we don't have that much time anymore. The GREAT DAWN is already underway. Where will you be when it happens?

It's time for some TWIST!

It's probably something that inspires you with a zest for life. It's what fills you with passion for happiness and living your best. The opposite of hope would be depression and a sense of defeat.

It's when my children don't ask the help of their godly father.

I have an email and a phone number.

Without hope i would have killed myself when my insomnia went terribly bad.

And now it's finished.

You don’t know that actually. You don’t know what it feels like to have no hope. Maybe it’s not as bad as you imagine.

Hope is lowkey illusion of the mind. Either something happens or it doesn’t, either it gets resolved or it doesn’t, what you believe in your mind and which gives you strength to continue is all in your mind. Not saying it’s a bad thing tho, illusion doesn’t mean bad

Do you also have this problem of imagining yourself suffering in your mind when you are presented challenges and it’s like your imagination is worse than it actually is? Maybe just me

Yea for sure i have a very vivid imagination and am quite creative. So i can imagine all sorts of horrible scenarios. I think i developed some anxiety disorder because of it.

Damn that’s tough❤️.

I can overthink suffering in my mind too. And wonder to myself how others can seem so chill about it, but maybe it’s just how they seem on the outside, can’t know how they are on the inside unless you explicitly ask.

I wonder to myself if resistance causes suffering or is suffering something inherent. So is a negative emotion or physical pain inherently suffering , or is it the resistance to it (something the mind does) that causes the suffering? Maybe I should make a post about it

Yea i think that’s why i love this nondual nonsense so much because it really “shows” that all of this is just mostly a story, a narrative. And even with having a creative mind and i can also easily imagine how good everything will, could or should be and so on. But this is all just nonsensical story stuff. Santa Claus type crap.

It’s one thing to know the idea about this all being a narrative vs actually seeing through it. The latter seems the hard part

Yea it’s basically impossible because there’s not really a you to see through it. I don’t know seemingly the self structure can soften or disintegrate. I remember you writing that parts of your self have vanished or softened too seemingly or something along those lines.

Yea I also resonate with some non dual talkers who emphasize that it’s hopeless, nothing to get etc because there’s no you to get it.

That’s how it is in the absolute sense. But it seems that in the relative domain, in our normal life, it can happen that the self structure can soften or partially dissolve. That’s kinda what I feel happened to me. So it’s like the self seems to have many “layers” to it, it’s thick and dense, and layers can shed. But it’s still mileeees away from the total absence.

This is just a story. But for example Andreas Müller who also has a lot of talks in English said. His self kind of disappeared or died in the span of several years. While others like Jim said it was instantly. Alexis said for him first the belief in free will was gone and then other stuff followed. So it’s different for everyone. And maybe this what could be called Karma. The problem is the Ego for the lack of the better term wants to experience this boundless freedom. But it will never experience it because it’s the absence of it. It can only in hindsight make stories and concepts and paths out of it and wants to get back to it etc. aka seeking.

^ although that’s just a total story. Santa Claus and Elfs type stuff.

Yea right. That’s why I’m open to different perspectives. There’s different ways of talking about the absolute

Sure but i feel like some methods of talking about this stuff feed the illusion more than others.
