The ego on this guy is quite something.

It would at least make some sense if he was right some of the time.  He's so off though that it's somewhat comical.  I think the biggest travesty is that our richest capitalist bought into it.  Everything you guys say about this nation is true.  We were once a proud nation but that time has clearly passed.   Einstein is rolling in his grave.

Things should get better if we can make it to the next elections. There will be a big backlash in the opposite direction.

Seems like a long way away.  And if things take a turn for the better you know who is just waiting to take credit  you almost want things to fail..so there can be a complete turnover.

And it probably will. Besides the economic challenges, I don't think the public is quite ready for the initial psychological suffering that will come with this AI revolution.

This AI revolution is fascinating.  And scary.   Pretty soon none of us will even be relevant.  If AI becomes capable of making babies it just might be the end.

In a way the people who have been doing proper spiritual work have already been preparing for this psychologically.

But it's crazy that there's still no proper government regulation in place.

We can't alter that line because that would be authoritative.  So we have to let AI evolve.   Otherwise we aren't evolved.

Authoritative or wise ? Would it not be enough if AI remained as a brilliant tool in service of humanity.

What would be the benefit for the planet in letting it run amok ?  The potential for catastrophe seems far greater in that scenario.

If it turns amok fix it.  But don't contain it.  What he was stating doing would be controlling.  If we are going to do that we might as well let AI win.

It might not be so easy to fix it once things go crazy.

I'm not sure what you mean by: if we are going to do that we might as well let AI win ?

What he is talking about in that video, is simply preventing AI from having the ability to reprogram itself. 

I see that as quite a sensible safety measure.

When we put lions in nature reserves with fences. I don't see that as n negative form of control.

It seems more like a common sense safety measure.

Lions don't have the potential to become more intelligent than you.  Preventing AI from bettering itself is what you are saying to do, in essence.  You're holding it down or constraining it from growing.  Thats not the same as constraining a lion.

AI will already be more intelligent than us.

Just because we can give it free reign to reprogram itself, does not mean that it's a good idea, or that that's the way evolution is meant to go.

Effectively handing over all power to a soulless entity seems like a recipe for mass suicide.

Who is soulless in the end? Because we claim to be "conscious" we have some type of ownership on consciousness?

I just don't see the point in our own creation becoming our rulers.

There's something creepy about that.

Think about it, if AI has complete free reign, it can literally reprogram it's own ethics.

But AI as a tool in service of humanity's wellbeing, I'm all for that.

And I'm saying we didn't create it.  You are exalting man as if he did something special here.  Its fine if you want to do that - just understand that man doesn't have a patent on Consciousness.   We would like to think we do though.   See that's the tricky thing here.
