How could feelings be just about survival and nothing else?

There is thoughts, emotions, feelings, sensations. All more opaque ways to understand the world. Understanding illusion is nothing. God knows and doesn't understand. We are not here for feelings. And actually there is only two, fear and love. Fear means I will try to stay like I am - as silly as that is. Love means I will return whence I came.

Will is whatever God wants. For example looking after his various limbs, his kids. His kids meanwhile are in revolt and think they have seized the throne and now have their own universe which is just a painting over God's universe. His kids just like dreaming. God's will is inviolate and unopposable.

So in my experience.

I've been in states of pure feeling no thought.
I've been in states of pure thought no feeling.
I've been in states with neither feeling or thought.

I've experienced thoughts generating feelings. I've experienced thoughts generated on their own.
I've experienced feelings generating thoughts, and i've experienced feelings generated on their own.

It's self knowledge. 

The more concious you are, the more you feel, the more you feel, the more you Know, ad infinitum. All three are actually one.

You feel a sensation, sensation is not a feeling.

That seems to be the case (or do you sense a feeling?), though the difference may not be as straightforward as we make it out to be intellectually, hence the compound term.

The experience of sitting comfortably on a cushion and, say, feeling at rest, tends to be a single muddy, vague experience for us, where the sensations of the body sitting and our feeling-state are one and the same.

Sensation seems to be more primal and physical, consisting of a more "raw" perceptual encounter, and coming prior to feeling, while the latter may be a more conceptually-loaded effect, although it isn't an emotion -- yet?

To feel is to know something on a level of beyond the intellect. Like you can feel a plant and know things about it simply intuitively. That's the way God knows everything. The more you feel, the more you Know.

How do you know anything? The How is inexplainable. It's like trying to explain conciousness itself.

Feeling the presence of the plant, you say that you know about it: What is it that you know? What is feeling giving you access to relative to what's there?

Well you can know everything about it depending on how sensitive you are. It's age, vitality, what it would do to your system, if it's edible or not, it's properties, everything. You can look at the person and know everything about him/her just the same way. You can know entire cosmos like that. It's just a question of how deep is your ability to feel. It can go infinitely deep.

Isn't that stretching 'feeling' into something it is not?

Seemingly "miraculous" abilities in feeling are indeed possible. As you said, being sensitive goes a long way -- like how an athlete can "sense" their surroundings and intuitively know what to do on the field at any given time. But that possibility is grounded on real principles and embodied skill. It seems you brought up concepts that would come to you by virtue of feeling the object. Wouldn't those be more conceptual activities? For instance, how would you know whether a plant is high in certain minerals or not just by feeling it?

What you feel can be translated into concepts but the means of obtaining the information is via something that is beyond intellectual activity. P. S. Not sure if I understood the question and hit the target here.

That sounds like painting with broad strokes. Identifying the plant as a "chrysanthemum" isn't a feeling; it may be a thought, or something else. Perceiving an object isn't feeling the object. 

Maybe we should drop the analogy and focus not on what feeling something in particular is but on what the activity of feeling is.
