My Journey With Porn

Everything can be a wast of time, that's relative. However, porn has real consequences on the body and psyche beyond opinions on time spent.

And porn isn't? Please, bro. It's giga addictive plus it can have drastic physiological and psychological effects on your sex life.

I think you don't know what a gooner is.

Yet people play way more video games to an unhealthy degree than watch porn. A gooner who spends hours jerking to porn is an extreme and rare beast. Playing video games for long hours is normalized. And the evidence on porn being bad isn't conclusive.

My issue is really with bias. I'm not even particularly pro porn or anything. I'm yet to hear any serious arguments that isn't essentially just pushing conformity and vibes. It's very chuddy. Very "west has fallen" energy.

The evidence isn't "conclusive" either that stabbing yourself in the eye with a toothbrush impairs driving skills, but there are other ways of concluding that than waiting for a scientist to gather a group of college students together and asking about their wanking habits.

Except it's not nearly that objective. The fact that you think it's that bad uncritically is part of the issue. I don't know what to tell you. The sky is blue. Your mind is made.

You can point to specific physiological mechanisms in either case. You don't need to gather some college students together to make a plausible conclusion.

An analogy is not an equivalence.

I know what to tell me: tell me why I cannot make conclusions based on mechanism and only conclusions based on highly specific (but also limited) empirical dispositions.
